Description

This is a clean and cozy home pocketed on the shore (dry in 2023, 2024 &2025) of the scenic north western cove of Babb's famous Duck Lake. It's 15 minutes from GNP's Many Glacier entrance, and about the same to the St. Mary GNP Gate. Thousands of people visit Glacier every Summer for its majestic scenery, wildlife viewing, fishing, hiking, and other adventure opportunities. This home is the perfect landing spot for you and your family to launch from to explore America's greatest park. The space This is a clean and cozy home pocketed on the shore of the scenic north western cove of Babb's famous Duck Lake. It's 15 minutes from GNP's Many Glacier entrance, and about the same to the St. Mary GNP Gate. Thousands of people visit Glacier every Summer for its majestic scenery, wildlife viewing, fishing, hiking, and other adventure opportunities. This lake front home is the perfect landing spot for you and your family to launch from to explore America's greatest park. There are two bedrooms, each with queen beds, inside the house. The third "bedroom" , a detached bunkhouse about 20 feet off the main house, holds a triple bunk-bed. There is a full size hide-a-bed sofa, and a full length couch in the living room for additional sleeping spots. There is one full bathroom with a tub and shower combo inside, and no bathroom in the bunkhouse. The interior of this home is small, but accommodates up to ten people nicely. The deck looking out over the cove toward Glacier peaks, west of the house, is spacious and furnished for outdoor dining and morning coffee quiet moments. One thing to note is, though this is typically a lake front property, 2022 brought drought conditions to the area which drastically effected the water level of Duck Lake. This made using the lake from the back yard difficult. 2023, 24, &25 may see improvements, but one can't know till Spring what to expect. If you depend on lake play for your enjoyment you may want to consider another option for your stay. Guest access Guests are welcome in the guest house and deck, bunk house, and immediate surrounding yard area. Everything found in the house, bunk house, yard area, and lakefront is for guest comfort and enjoyment. The garage is used to store maintenance equipment and is for owner use only. Other things to note Fishing on Duck Lake requires a Blackfeet tribal fish and games permit. Fishing in GNP is included with your park pass. Travel into Canada requires a passport or birth certificate for every member of your party. Waits at the Carway border entry average 30 to 60 minutes in the summer months, longer on weekends and holidays. If you are heading to Waterton the quickest route will be up Chief Mountain/HWY17, where there is occasionally, but not more than, a 5 to 10 minute wait. Our favorite restaurants are out at Many Glacier, The Swiftcurrent Inn, and in Babb, Glaciers Edge. The Leaning Tree, near the guest house has good burgers and fries and fabulous breakfasts. There are two grocery stores in the valley, Thronson's in Babb, and the St. Mary Grocery in St. Mary. The nearest large chain grocery stores are in Browning Montana, about 30 miles south of the guest house, Glacier Family Foods, and Teeples IGA. Again, Verizon is the only cell service that works in the area. Please be aware that West Duck Shore Road is seasonally muddy and/or snowy. When it is dry, generally by mid-May, it can be rough and bumpy as it's a gravel country road. There are wild animals in the area, and stray dogs and wild horses.
