We have geckos who love to come out and sun and Coqui rainforest tree frogs who love to sing at night providing the perfect tropical backdrop against the sound of crashing waves. The Volcano Pali Hale is a popular homebase for Volcano adventuring. Only 26 miles from Volcanos National Park entrance, makes it a convenient drive for the day visit, or "at the drop of hat" when lava viewing conditions are perfect. We provide tips, recommendations and guides on how to best visit the park and volcano whether there is a current eruption happening or not. Amenities - Folding Beach Chairs and Camp Chairs - Ukulele - Beach Towels - Snorkel/Mask/Fins (2 Adult/2Kids) - Flashlights/Binoculars for your use at Pali Hali Current Viewing Conditions - March 2022: - Lava at Kilauea Summit Caldera: A new eruption as of October 2021 can be viewed nightly from the Crater Rim in Volcanoes National Park, there are several vantage points around the Crater Rim inside the park where the lava lake and active fissure can be viewed and photographed but the closest and by far best view is from Keanakakoi Overlook . - Whales: Are in season and currently we are spotting whales daily. Whale season is Nov-May peaking in February. - Nene's: Our Nene family has split up for now, but individual family members still stop by on most days. Eventually a new family will emerge from one of the individuals. You can usually hear them honking when they fly in on the ocean side of the house. Nene's are the rare/endangered Hawaii state bird. There are also other Nene families in our area that can be spotted around the neighborhood on most days. - Turtles: Green turtles in the surf in front of the house year round. - Spinner Dolphins: Are being spotted several times per week. - Helicopter Tours: Helicopter tours are currently running. - Volcanoes National Park - is open.
