E Komo Mai (welcome) to Hale Hapu’u! Our little Hawaiian tiki hut is perfect for couples seeking an authentic Big Island experience. The Guesthouse is adorned with hand carved tiki art from local artists, an outdoor bath room set in the midst of a tropical garden of ferns, palms & orchids, and a lanai/dining room overlooking lava features & new landscaping. Modern amenities of AC, Internet and Roku will make your vacation more enjoyable. And close proximity to Volcano NP and the ocean. The guesthouse ohana is similar to a studio space for couples with one queen bed, interior kitchenette, bathroom with walk in shower, outdoor bath tub, lanai for cooking and dining, closet / dresser space and a variety of amenities. We are located on a one acre property. The entire front half of the property (half acre) is designated for our guests. Parking included. We are a gated property so each guest will receive a remote to open gate. We like to give our guests as much space and privacy as possible. We offer self check in and a half acre of as a private sanctuary. However, our home is on the back half of the property and we do make ourselves available for questions, special requests, or small tours of requested. We live in a subdivision called Hawaiian Paradise Park. The lots are all 1 acre properties on an electric grid. Our street in particular is gravel and we live on a dead end road. We love this because we have minimal traffic on the street. Maybe a couple dozen cars pass by per day. Within our development is miles of ocean frontage. We are located approx 1.5 miles from the ocean. We have ocean “cliffs” and beautiful lava landscapes as our ocean front. The cliffs are a PERFECT place for quiet ocean walks / jogs and picnicking. During winter months, this area is ideal for whale watching! The humpbacks come back here annually and it’s almost guaranteed you will see them from the cliffs. Makuu beach is also down the street from us and is a great place to explore the lava terrain and tide pools. As for sand beaches, Hilo has several places for swimming and beach BBQs. It is an approx 30 minute drive for some great swimming and snorkeling. All the ocean images are from our ocean frontage in Hawaiian Paradise Park and Hilo. Last, we are approx 45 minutes Volcano National Park. We have 2 volcanos that are erupting: Mauna Kea and the recent Mauna Loa. Currently, Mauna Loa is very active with hundreds of thousands of gallons of lava flowing each day! We currently have 2 mountain peaks spewing lava and another that is snow capped… only on the Big Island! We offer a private parking spot on the property, directly across from the Ohana guest house.
