The site was initially used to house migrant workers and constructed in 1913, with ten small houses and a separate kitchen with a bell to call the workers to chow. When two larger buildings were built in the 1940s, plumbing was added to the existing structures and the exteriors were modified with breezeways, taking on more of their current appearance. A small manufactured home was placed in the corner of the lot in the 1970s adding four more small apartments to the site. The southernmost stucco building constructed in the 40s burned down in the 1990s leaving the site as it appears today.
