Just steps from downtown, this Salem seaside condo gives you an insider experience of the historic Derby Street neighborhood and Salem's waterfront with all its quirky architecture, pubs and restaurants. Newly renovated third floor with charming beams and urban rustic touches. Huge windows look out to Salem Harbor, Derby Wharf and to Salem's maritime history. Two doors down from the Custom House, where Nate Hawthorne penned The Scarlet Letter. This Salem seaside condo is the perfect getaway... The space Open floor plan with loft bedroom that has a Queen-sized bed and then a first floor office/bedroom with a small day bed for one person. The space is best for a solo traveler, couple or a couple with a small child. Newly renovated kitchen with all you need. Note: The fridge is European sized and won't fit much. Deep bathtub to soak those feet that have walked all over Salem. Note: This is my primary residence. Unlike a hotel AIRBNB, my things are in the drawers. It's like an OG AIRBNB. You'll have the whole condo to yourselves, but it's not empty. Location Location Location! Walking distance to multiple shops and a variety of bars and restaurants. Coffee shop across the street, down the street and more down the street. Wine and beer package store a block away. Salem Common two blocks away. Local eateries: Super local vibe at Mercy Tavern, Olde Main Street Pub, The Wolf Next Door coffee shop, Sea Level for seafood and sea views, the very cool waterside Notch Brewery. A ten minute walk: Gulu Gulu Cafe, Settler, Ledger, Adriatic. A short bike ride or long walk to Winter Island and the Willows, Far from the Tree Cider House or Deacon Giles distillery. The world class art museum Peabody Essex Museum a five-minute walk. Spend the day. Thinking about Boston? The train is a 10-minute walk. Boston's North Station is a 35-minute ride. The Salem Ferry is a 7-minute walk from the condo and will take you to Boston in about 40 minutes. Or take the train north to Manchester by the Sea's Singing Beach or Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester. Parking in Salem: First of all, there is NEVER a need for a car in Salem. This is a tiny city with a large reputation. I don't have a car. Many people get along without one. All the things you are looking to do in October are probably within a five to ten minute walk from here. Public transport is key. The train and the ferry go to and from Boston. Having said that, if you feel you must drive, know that I don't have parking. You'll see a driveway to the left of the building. It is for other people who live in the building. You'll probably be looking for parking for a long time. Here are some things to try: Parking around Salem Common is free (Although that usually changes during October). Or try a metered spot on Derby Street. Read the signs that go up everywhere in October. The Witch City Mall Garage, South Harbor Garage and Church Street lot are options, as well as the Salem Ferry parking lot. Fans : There are several fans around the place that you can use. The front windows also let in a gorgeous breeze. Gas fireplace: There is a gas fireplace in the unit. It is off limits (and gas turned off) except during the colder months -- Nov. 15 through April 15. Backyard access: Feel free to sit in the tiny backyard. Entrance through the driveway to the LEFT of the building. Feel free to turn on the lights but don't forget to turn them off. Backyard off limits after 10 pm. The fire pit and grill are off limits. Guest access Whole condo, back garden Other things to note Walk to the lighthouse right in front of the house for a great view looking back at Salem.
