Description
This house is our pride and joy and we hope you'll see the pride of ownership shine through the attention to detail. This is a century-old brownstone with its quaint and charming details. High ceilings, original hardwood floors and wardrobes, and elegant crown moldings throughout. This apartment is the downstairs unit. You'll share the same front entrance as us, after which you'll have your own entrance to the unit. We live in the upstairs unit Easy transit to NYC. No car needed! The space ******** OVERVIEW ******* This historic brownstone is over 100 years old with its quaint and charming details and quirks. The apartment has an old style “railroad” layout, meaning the rooms are one after another. You will enter into the big bedroom, and walk through the other two bedrooms before arriving in the living room and kitchen. The historic wooden pocket doors separate the rooms. Yes, the doors will creak when you close them and there are no locks on each bedroom. You're in a historic home with old hardwood floors and decor, while providing modern comfort including a renovated bathroom. Please note you’ll need to walk through the bedrooms to get to the living room and bathroom. The kitchen opens up to the backyard, where you can use our fire pit. The yard is shared with us as we can access it from our unit upstairs, though we don’t use it very often. We do have a friendly Labrador retriever who you may see once in a while :) ******** PARKING ******* We rent a parking spot at the lot next door. If you'd like parking, there's a fee of $25 per day and you must let us know beforehand so we can reserve it for you. Please note ONLY standard sedans or compact SUVs (length below 195", please) are permitted. The spot may or may not be available during your stay. Please include your car's make and model in your request when reserving the spot and pay the fee directly from your reservation. Alternatively, you can try to find street parking and an overnight permit costs $5 from 11pm to 7am. You can also check out a nearby garage (Little Man Parking at Port Imperial in Weehawken can be a good option). - Large SUVs, trucks, and vans MUST park on the street and you'll need to purchase parking permits yourself. Please check our guidebook on finding street parking. You can purchase an overnight parking permit (11pm-7am) at a pay station outside the town hall at 6808 Park Ave, just a block away, for $5. We highly recommend NOT bringing a car. It's very easy to get around, both to NYC and within NJ. A one-way bus ticket to midtown Manhattan costs $4.10 and will take no more than half an hour from our door. Buses run 24 hours a day. It can be tough to find parking in this area. Driving to NYC involves paying a hefty toll at Lincoln Tunnel, battling terrible traffic in the tunnel and midtown Manhattan, and ultimately perform mission impossible of finding parking in the city. Leave your car at home if possible! :) Other things to note ******** CHECK-IN/OUT ******* - We try to accommodate early checkins, but it’s often not possible because we frequently have same-day turnovers and our housekeepers need the window to get the unit ready. If you need to check in before 4pm, we'll try our best to make it happen but please understand it may not be possible. Please let us know as soon as you book (not wait till the night before or even the morning of). - We have smart locks on the front door and the door to your unit so you may check in any time you'd like after 4pm - Checkout is before 11am - Familiarize yourself with the cancelation/refund polices BEFORE booking. No refund will be given if you decide to leave early mid-stay. Thank you for your understanding. If you’d like to extend your stay you can alter the reservation directly on the app, as long as the dates are open. Please PURCHASE TRAVEL INSURANCE to protect your trip!! ******** SMART TV ******* We have a Fire TV and it will require your own Prime account login or credentials for your own streaming platforms. ******** SAFETY ******* - You'll need to climb a flight of stairs each time you enter and exit the front door - For your safety and ours, and as disclosed in the listing, we have security cameras in the front and back of the house. We do not monitor them 24/7 but they do record footage of activity at the front door and common areas in the yard ******** OCCUPANCY ******* - No extra guests beyond the stated number in your reservation will be admitted. This number applies to children. If you show up with more people or unauthorized pets they'll be asked to leave/be removed - All persons in your party must be over 25 years old except for children accompanied by parents - Absolutely no parties or loud music will be tolerated at any hour of the day. Quiet hours are 10pm-7am and are strictly enforced - No smoking or vaping - of ANYTHING - anywhere in the house, INCLUDING outside in the yard. If you're caught smoking you'll be asked to leave and pay a $500 cleaning fee - Positively no oily or greasy liquids or solids down the sink drain. Please dispose of such items in the trash bin. Flush NOTHING BUT TOILET PAPER down the toilet. ***Feminine products, wipes (INCLUDING wipes that say "flushable"), paper towels, tissues, etc must go inside the BIN.*** This lovely house is over a century old and has old plumbing. If you flush anything that's not toilet paper, it can cause a clog and you'll need to pay for the repair ###### FAQs ####### * Is there a train to Manhattan nearby? - No. There's no subway in the state of NJ. Buses are the easiest way to get around. No need to get put off by having to the the bus :) We guarantee it's the most scenic commuter bus ride you'll ever take. The bus stop is very close. It only costs $4.10 per ticket (or $34.50 for 10 tickets you can share with others) and can take you to Times Square in 20-25 minutes. * How long does it take to get to ...... in NYC? - It takes 3 minutes to walk to the nearest bus stop at 67th St & Blvd E. You can use this address to map your route: 6701 Boulevard E, West New York, NJ 07093. Please look it up on the map yourself how long it'll take to go from that bus stop to whatever destination you're trying to reach. It takes about 20 minutes to go straight to Port Authority/Times Square. * Where's the bus stop and when do the buses run? - The bus stop is at Blvd E & 67th St, a 3-minute walk from us. That is the exact location and the bus stop does not have a "name." Buses run 24/7 and more frequently during the day. Please review our guidebook on how to get to Manhattan as it contains detailed information and step-by-step instructions on how to get your bus tickets ahead of time. * Can I stay for a month or longer? - No. The maximum length of stay is 27 days. * Can I get a discount? - No. If our rates are out of your budget, please note that we use a smart algorithm that adjusts pricing based on seasonality, demand, competition, occupancy rates in the area, among other factors. You're always welcome to check back in a few days or weeks to see if the price has gone down, if the listing is still available. * We're staying for 20 days (or another lengthy amount of time). Can we get a discount? - No. We actually have no preference for longer term stays. Our pricing is dynamically adjusted and takes into account many factors including length of stay already. * We're only staying 1 or 2 nights. We'll clean up after ourselves. Can we pay a lower cleaning fee? - No. The cleaning fee applies to all reservations regardless of the length of stay. We understand it might appear unreasonable (we used to think the same before becoming hosts ourselves). We don’t clean the unit ourselves and pay a fee to a cleaning company that charges a flat rate per visit (If the unit is left in an exceptionally dirty state, a deep cleaning fee will apply and be charged to you after checkout, but it happens extremely rarely). All linens and towels must be laundered after every visit even if they were only used for one night. * Are there cafes, restaurants, grocery stores within walking distance? - You bet! There are lots of restaurants, cafes, and shops within walking distance and we firmly believe it's wise to not have a car! :D Some local cafes you can walk to include Las Chicas Bakery on Blvd E (outdoor seating and great views of Manhattan skyline across the street), and Parker (6504 Park Ave). We don't have a grocery store the caliber of Whole Foods or Trader Joe's within walking distance (though both are a short drive away). Within walking distance we have many local bodegas where you can buy snacks, essentials, meat and produce. You won't get selections as large as you'd find at a Trader Joe's, but you should be able to find most basics you need. For a larger grocery store with more fresh produce, we have a Green Way Markets store 6-minute walk away (6411 Park Ave). * All communication and payments must take place via Airbnb. Any attempt to communicate off the platform will result in your account being reported.
