The space The current incarnation of this historic home is divided into two separate dwellings, in a duplex fashion. One of the units, a remnant of the hotel, is the residence of the owner, and the other, the original Booth summer home, is all for you! Its many spacious rooms have high ceilings and oversized windows that capture the summer breezes. Dogs allowed on a case-by-case basis. No Smoking. GROUND FLOOR Living Room: Large windows capture summer sea breezes and the ocean view. The stately great room, with its working fireplace, is a wonderful gathering space for family and friends. Kitchen: Fully applianced kitchen with an offset sitting and TV room, and a formal dining area. Bathroom 1: Half bathroom. SECOND FLOOR Bedroom 1: Primary bedroom with King Bed, walk-in closets and a large upper deck. Bathroom 2: En-suite bathroom to master bedroom. Bedroom 2: Twin bedroom. Bedroom 3: Twin bedroom. Bathroom 3: En-suite bathroom to bedroom 3. Bedroom 4: Twin bedroom Bathroom 4: Full bathroom in hallway. EXTERIOR You'll enjoy the views from the large, wicker-furnished porch that overlooks the Atlantic and from the upper deck off the upstairs master bedroom. The large, stately lawn is perfect for recreation and relaxing. An outdoor hot water shower makes it easy to rinse off after the beach.PARKING Parking for 2-3 cars in driveway. Other things to note Known as "Booth Cottage", this charming and historic vacation rental home once belonged to actor Junius Brutus Booth, Jr., a Lincoln supporter but also the brother of the infamous John Wilkes Booth. In the later part of the 19th century, the property was part of the grand Masconomo Hotel, site of the first outdoor performance of Shakespeare under electric lights. What's more, the movie "State and Main" was filmed in this very house and more recently, the Academy Award-winning movie "Manchester by the Sea" was filmed in spots you'll recognize all around the area. For a closer look at the sea, walk down the private mowed path to beautiful Singing Beach, named for the sounds that emanate from walking on the sand. A short walk in the other direction leads to the village center and the commuter train that can take you south to Salem and Boston or north to Gloucester and Rockport.
