Description
Modern, luxury home near Harvard with 2 fireplaces, luxury bathroom (oversized soaking tub, steam shower), and enclosed yard. Dog Friendly. The space We built our (Gold LEED Certified) house ourselves and invite you to enjoy this oasis within Cambridge. With over 60 windows, it is a free-standing single family, hidden from the street, with a completely fenced yard - perfect for letting your dogs roam free if they are traveling with you. The house has a deluxe gourmet kitchen with an indoor grill - for when you want a steak in the middle of winter. The first floor has an over-sized gas fireplace for those cold wintry nights. The second floor has a bathroom with washer and dryer, access to an outdoor deck, and two average sized bedrooms. Our favorite part of the house - which often works as a family room because no one wants to leave it - is the third floor, which is dedicated entirely to a master suite. Huge rows of windows let the sun shine in, and a window seat underneath is the perfect spot to read. Or you may choose the comfy chair under the fireplace, with remote control. It can be set to turn on automatically at a specific temperature. The king size bed sits beneath 4 skylights (with remote control solar shades) so depending on the weather, you can lie back and watch the pitter patter of rain, snowflakes falling, clouds passing, or at night, watch the stars. The thirteen foot high ceiling helps create a feeling of openness. The house has 10 inches of icynene insulation and double-pained Andersen windows, so it always feels cozy and quiet. In spite of the plethora of windows, the first floor fireplace can heat the entire house. But separate from the two fireplaces, the house has three heating/cooling zones. In the master, all windows have black-out shades/curtains so at night, it can be pitch black if that's your preference. The master has a separate dressing room, and an amazing bathroom - double sink, laundry chute, 5 head shower with independent temperature control, steam shower, and a six foot soaking tub. (Due to "hard water" issues in Cambridge, the jacuzzi jets have been disabled.) What makes the home magical to us is its location - within a few blocks, you have Harvard University (the College), MIT, Harvard Business School, Whole Foods, Coast Soul Cafe (best southern fried chicken in boston), high end restaurants like Waypoint and Pammys, Central Square and the T. It is also a few blocks from the Charles River. We allow pets - particularly dogs, and we built in a number of dog-friendly features such as a completely fenced yard (so no dog walks required - just let them out), a 'dog window' so you know when they want to come in, a 'dog cave' so they can sit in the kitchen but be out of the way, and a dog ramp to get up the front 3 stairs (it only supports 100 pounds, so no kids running on it please!) The yard is enclosed. During spring and summer, you'll be able to enjoy the outdoors - either on the 2nd floor deck or lounging in the hammock. All told, we love our home and invite you to enjoy it as well! Other things to note The house has the highest Wi-Fi internet speed offered by Comcast/Xfinity. Live cable channels are provided by YouTubeTV. Streaming apps like Netflix, Hulu, Disney, etc are loaded onto Smart TVs in Living Room and Main Bedroom. You don't need a car because it is centrally located, but if you bring a car, please note, we do not have a driveway. Instead, we will provide you a parking permit. There is always plentiful parking on the street. The house is 1540 square feet. It's a good size for five people. If you're traveling with more than that, please contact us prior so we can make sure the accommodations will work for you. Well behaved dogs welcome, but if bringing a dog, please contact us for approval.
