Welcome to the quiet community of Plum Island. On the island itself feel free to bike, drive or walk the beaches, go to the light house or bird watch/hike through the Parker River Wildlife Refuge. Sandy Point is a short drive away and provides a different style of beach than what you will find just outside the house or in the cove by the mouth of the Merrimack. Favorite local destinations and restaurants are: 1.) Best Outdoor Drinking: "The Deck" Salisbury, MA 2.) Best Indoor Drinking: "The Port Tavern" Newburyport, MA 3.) Best Dinner: "Black Cow Tap & Grill" 4.) Both Icecream shops on the beach are really good. 5.) Visit "Tendercrop Farm" for all your fresh and organic needs. 6.) Whale watching is available in Newburyport 7.) You can charter the "Captain's Lady" to go fishing. 8.) Walk the board walk in Newburyport. 9.) Kayaks rentals are available in Newburyport but recommend not using them on the Merrimack side of jetty but on the basin side or on the ocean side beach. 10.) Great biking trail to get into Newburyport downtown or to drive around the island. 11.) Great fishing spot right off jetty especially at low tide. Car, bike, or walk.
