Other things to note - This is a quiet, rural part of the Big Island with no nightlife. The two nearby country towns are peaceful day and night, which many guests love for relaxation and stargazing. - We are an ocean-view unit. As of 2025, ocean-view hotel rooms on this island range from $375 to $590 per night (a significant increase from 2023). Our condo, at around $200 per night including taxes, offers you value and a great, resort-style community - with an ocean view. Dining and groceries: - Naalehu (10 minutes): three restaurant options and a small grocery section at the 76 Gas Station. - Ocean View (30 minutes): two full-size grocery stores and additional dining. - Volcano Village and Volcano National Park (30 minutes): multiple dining options. - Many local spots close earlier than you may expect or may be cash only, so planning ahead is helpful. - Rural Hawaii has a slow, quiet pace that is perfect for relaxation, exploration, and recharging. Enjoy the sea breeze, palm trees moving in the tradewinds, and incredibly starry night skies. Driving distances: - Kailua-Kona: about 1 hour 30 minutes each way. - Hilo: about 1 hour each way. - We recommend buying groceries and supplies when you arrive at either airport. There is no air conditioning. The condo has three ceiling fans (living room, bedroom, and lanai) and Polynesian-style ventilation through louvered windows for natural trade-wind cooling. A blanket and extra pillows are provided. - The kitchen is fully equipped for any length of stay. As a ground-floor end unit, the condo is private, with only two other entrances sharing the lanai area and tropical plantings along the garden side. A built-in island with two stools is available for indoor dining. - Beach gear provided: two beach chairs, snorkel gear, cooler, and two beach towels. Starter supplies include paper products, trash bags, dish soap, hand soap, and similar basics. - No pets allowed. Service animals (as defined by the ADA) are permitted. Emotional Support Animals are not recognized by the ADA and are not allowed under HOA policy. If traveling with a qualified service animal, please note it on your parking form at check-in so the on-site manager is aware.
