Description

Ocean‑view Big Island condo with authentic Hawaiian charm. Steps from Punaluʻu Black Sand Beach and a quick drive to Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. Ground‑floor unit with private outdoor space, full kitchen, queen bed, walk‑in shower, fast WiFi, Smart TV, and all the beach + snorkel essentials. The space 🌺 Hala Kahiki • Ocean‑View Condo Near Punaluʻu & Volcano NP Stay close to everything that makes the South Big Island unforgettable. Our ocean‑view ground‑floor condo sits in the heart of Kaʻū—just a short walk to Punaluʻu Black Sand Beach and only 30 minutes from Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. If you’re looking for quiet, uncrowded, authentic Hawaiʻi, you’ve found it. 🌋 Close to Ongoing Eruption Activity The eruption that began on December 24, 2024 has been producing spectacular phases about every two weeks. Our condo is just 30 minutes from Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, making it one of the most convenient places to stay for guests hoping to experience the island’s volcanic landscape. You’ll be close to the action while still enjoying the peace, quiet, and ocean views of rural Kaʻū. 🌴 Welcome to Hala Kahiki "Hala Kahiki” means pineapple in Hawaiian, and you’ll see them growing right on our lanai garden. This peaceful condo blends ocean views, natural breezes, and thoughtful design to create a relaxing home base for your Big Island adventure. 🌺 Why Guests Love Staying Here ❤️ Ocean view from the bedroom and lanai ❤️ Walk to Punaluʻu Beach — the island’s #1 black sand beach ❤️ 30 minutes to Volcano National Park - Close to eruption activity ❤️ Quiet rural location far from crowds and resorts ❤️ Updated interior with a comfortable, efficient layout ❤️ Ground‑floor unit with breezy indoor–outdoor living ❤️ Cozy queen bed and peaceful atmosphere ❤️ Well‑equipped kitchen with full‑size fridge, oven, microwave, and extended counter space ❤️ Lanai with ocean view — our favorite “extra room” 🌺 Amenities High‑speed cable WiFi - Free parking - Community pool & hot tub - Beautiful tropical garden grounds - Beach chairs, beach towels & snorkel gear - No pets 🌬 Climate & Comfort Like most homes in this region, our condo does not have air conditioning or heat. Instead, you’ll enjoy natural ventilation from the Hawaiian trade winds, three ceiling fans, and large screened louver windows. Most guests love the open‑air feel and enjoy Hawaii's famous comfortable temperatures year‑round. If A/C is essential for you, this may not be the right fit — but if you’re open to embracing Hawaiʻi’s natural climate, you’ll feel right at home. 🌄 What to Expect in Rural Kaʻū Kaʻū is peaceful, quiet, and wonderfully uncrowded — but it’s not a nightlife or restaurant hub. Dining and grocery options require a 10–30 minute drive, and many places close early. Nearby towns include: Nā‘ālehu — cafés, bakery, lunch spots, early dinners Pāhala — Kaʻū Coffee Mill, local attractions Ocean View — two grocery stores (about 30 minutes) Volcano Village & Volcano National Park — multiple dining options If you’re seeking authentic Hawaiʻi, scenic drives, starry nights, and nature‑focused days, this region is perfect. 🌋 Closest Resort‑Style Community to Volcano National Park We are the nearest resort‑style condo community to Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. From our oceanfront location, you can reach the park entrance in about 30 minutes, making it easy to explore trails, viewpoints, and eruption activity without two hour (or longer) drives from the Kona or Kohala districts. 🌈 Experience the Real Hawaiʻi If you want crowds, nightlife, and resort energy, this isn’t the place. If you want ocean views, black sand beaches, volcano adventures, natural beauty, and peaceful rural Hawaiʻi, Hala Kahiki is exactly where you want to be. Guest access You will receive an automatically generated email with your unique lock code. We'll follow up with a link to our guest info PDF for downloading. Other things to note If you are looking for a big night-life...you will not find it here. We're not located in a city and the two nearby small country towns are just as quiet - day or night. We are an ocean-view unit. As of 2024, a similar view in a hotel room ranges from $345 to $570 per night (a 70% increase over 2023!). We hope youll find our comfortable condo, at $200 per night (or even less) including taxes, to be a value. There are three restaurant options in Naalehu (10 minutes away) and a limited grocery store at the 76 Gas Station. Two full size grocery stores are available in Ocean View (30 minutes) plus a few more dining options. Additional dining is available in both Volcano Village or Volcanoes National Park (30 minutes). Some places will close earlier than you might expect on the mainland or are cash only. The pace of life in rural Hawaii is slow, quiet and perfect...for relaxation, exploration and the recharge you are looking for. Take time to sit and watch the sea breeze blow the palm trees in the tradewinds and be awed by the stars in the blackness of the night sky. Kailua-Kona is an hour and thirty minute drive; Hilo is an hour away - that's each way. So, we suggest buying your groceries and other needs when you arrive in either airport. There is no air conditioning - our condo has three ceiling fans (two inside - living room and bedroom, one on the lanai) and generous ventilation with louvered windows for the famous trade winds. A blanket is provided, along with some extra pillows, should you want or need them. The kitchen is equipped for any length stay. As a ground floor end unit, the location is private (only two other condo entrances share our lanai area) and has tropical plantings on the end garden. On the rare days when you would want to eat inside there is a built in island with two stools. You'll find two beach chairs, snorkel gear and a cooler in the upstairs closet. We also have two beach towels for you to use if you wish. We provide starter paper products, trash bags, dish soap, hand soap and similar basic items for your stay. Our condo complex does not allow pets. Service animals, as defined under the Americans With Disabilities Act, are permitted. Emotional Support Animals are not recognized by the ADA and are not permitted by HOA complex policy. If you travel with a qualified service animal, we please ask you to note it's presence on your parking form at check in so our on-site manager is aware of your partner's presence on the grounds.
