Cabin on Bayou Petite Anse is your place to stay for business, family vacations, romantic getaways or simply relaxing watching nature in all its beauty. It is located in the center of Cajun Country and will provide you with all the comforts of home. You will discover deep Louisiana history, delicious authentic Cajun food and hundreds of species of birds, fish and reptiles. This area offers airboat tours, swamp and guided photography tours along with kayak rentals. The space Cabin: The Cabin is centrally located in Acadiana, which includes 22 parishes in French Louisiana in the southern part of the state. The cabin’s back balcony gives you a view of Bayou Petite Anse. You may see an alligator sunning himself or looking for prey along with a bullfrog happily jumping his way down the bayou. Iberia Parish is home to 240 species of birds. During wood duck season, you can watch the wood ducks hatching in the three boxes by the wharf. Alligators, garfish and catfish make their way down the waterway in this Louisiana paradise. The cabin has 5 kayaks with paddles and life jackets that can be used at the boat launch on the property. The loft bedroom is decorated in a Rip Van Winkle Garden theme and is a large area that is accessed by stairs and is open to the living area. It has a king size bed and a King Coil queen bed that can be added if additional sleeping is needed. Rip Van Winkle Gardens is known for their peacocks walking around the grounds in all their splendor and this room is a reflection of the beauty that can be found at the Gardens. The Tabasco themed bedroom, located downstairs, has a king bed and is directly across from the bathroom. Take time to look at the prints and items that tell the story of Tabasco. End your night by reading the beautifully illustrated book “TABASCO: An Illustrated History” by Shane Bernard. There is a TV with an apple box. The newly renovated bathroom, located downstairs, offers you a choice of a roomy shower or a soaking tub. The kitchen has brand new appliances, new granite countertops and an open floor plan. You can cook and watch the 55” TV and if weather permits, turn on the gas fireplace to warm up the place. The laundry room has a large, full size washer and dryer. The Cabin is equipped with many cooking items from pots to baking pans, blender, mixer, omelet maker, Keurig coffee pot and more. Parking will never be an issue. There is ample space to park. This location is close to Downtown New Iberia, Abbeville, Lafayette, Broussard, St. Martinville, Breaux Bridge, Jeanerette and Franklin. Enjoy one of our many restaurants, all within a 10 mile radius or run to the meat market/grocery store five miles away and cook at the Cabin. There is just so much to see and do here! Area: Tabasco is just minutes away. Jungle Gardens, the museum, the store and restaurant are walk up. If you would like a tour of the factory you will need to go to their website and reserve a day. The Cabin is located on Bayou Petite Anse where you can kayak down the bayou directly from the cabin to the McIlhenny Tabasco Factory. It is a 3 hour kayak trip or you can drive there in about 7 minutes. You can drive through Jungle Gardens and view the bird sanctuary. Finish your day with a tour of the factory and eat lunch at Tabasco’s 1868 Restaurant. End your day with a visit to the Tabasco country store and make sure you try the Tabasco ice cream. This destination is six miles from the Cabin and can easily be reached by car. In the opposite direction is Rip Van Winkle Gardens. Five miles from the Cabin sits a beautiful semi-tropical garden with a tour of the Joseph Jefferson Mansion. Café Jefferson overlooks Lake Peigneur and offers tasty dishes with a southern flair. Our family favorite is Seafood Heaven and Crabmeat Au Gratin. Rip’s Rookery has many species of birds, among them the Spoonbill Roseate. Jefferson Island has over 260 species of birds. It is truly a bird watchers paradise. Konrico Company Store/Conrad Rice Mill is the oldest operating rice mill in the US and only six miles from the Cabin. Tour the Rice Mill, you can taste the rice and buy it from their store on property. Try the Wild Pecan Brown Rice. It’s our family favorite! The Shadows on the Teche was built in 1834 on the banks of Bayou Teche and it is located six miles from the Cabin. The Spanish moss draped oaks and gardens are breathtaking. The Classic Revival-style home with a Louisiana Colonial floor plan has tours daily. Downtown New Iberia, located six miles from the Cabin and conveniently down the street from The Shadows on the Teche, offers many restaurants, shopping and bar options. Also located downtown is the Bayou Teche Museum, a state-of-the art museum with a permanent collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the region telling the story of a growing city, its people, culture and industry all centered around the “snake-like” curves of the Bayou Teche. It also offers a “Rodrigue Comes Home” rotating exhibit of original paintings by George Rodrigue. Visit the Paul Schexnayder Studio + Gallery and shop for paintings, ceramics, collage, wood and metal art, jewelry, prints, books and gifts from artists in the area. Three of Paul’s pieces hang in the Cabin. Guest access Entire House Other things to note -The house has indoor and outdoor stairs. The loft bedroom requires you to climb stairs. -Children 12 and under must have a life jacket by the water. Life jackets are available at the Cabin. -Pets cannot exceed 25 lbs without approval. No cats. There is a $50 pet fee.
