Peaceful room near 3 colleges
Peaceful room near 3 colleges
Description
One of 5 rooms listed in 1960s split level house in lovely neighborhood. One mile to bus stop, 3 to town, 5 to U-Mass. Friendly, comfortable vibe. Furniture and decor are vintage, definitely not the Marriott, but clean, quiet and functional. 2 shared bathrooms. Kitchen (please recycle) and laundry available. Tell me about your cat or small dog before booking. My cat and I live in a private apartment below this room, so I appreciate quiet 9:00pm-8:00am. Stay of >one week (single occupant only) The space This room ( one of five) is directly above mine so I request that anyone staying here be very quiet after 9:00pm. Walking around in the middle of the night always awakens me so I really appreciate when people make an effort to be quiet. Thank you very much. This room has only one window so if an AC unit is installed, please do not try to open the window or the unit will fall to the ground. If you are bringing an animal, please check with me first. Well-trained and well behaved animals are delightful, but I'll need to ask you about yours before confirming. Also, if you are one person needing to stay for more than a week, I would also like to communicate with you before booking. I am 8 minutes by car from the center of Amherst going north toward the University, 5 minutes from Rt. 9 heading west to the malls and Northampton, and 5 minutes from Hampshire College and Atkins Farms fruit market going south toward Mt. Holyoke College in South Hadley. Uber and Lyft are reliable. My house is in a lovely, quiet and green neighborhood where neighbors walk the circle with and without kids and dogs. Of the six rooms upstairs, some of the other rooms will be occupied by friendly but private students or guests when you are here. Please do not expect something fancy and complain about imperfections. It is a casual, relaxed house and pleasant people say they feel completely at home as soon as they come in. You are free to use the kitchen, living room and sunny deck and will probably be the only one doing so at any time unless there are long term guests who basically live here for a semester or two. I live in a separate, private space downstairs with my 2 cats, who spend most of their time outside. There will be an AC unit in the room in the summer months. Please remember that there will be other people in the house, so be particularly quiet after 9 pm. Also, please leave bathroom door open after use so others know that it is not occupied. You can text or call me if you need anything and I'll come right upstairs to speak with you. * Please see notes below on recycling. With most people now getting take-out meals, it is critical that containers be emptied, cleaned out and deposited in the proper bins. I am most adamant about clean recycling. Please do not be offended if you see notes around, since there are multiple people using the spaces and it is the easiest way for me to communicate with everyone at once. Thank you! Guest access Check in/ out times can be flexible as long as you check with me first. Early check in is often possible unless previous guests are still in the room. Please enter using the front door. I use the garage door. You will find a room key and a front door key in the door of your room. It is essential that you let me know the time you will arrive (ETA) as I am in and out and I prefer to meet you at the door to check you in. If I know that I'm not going to be home, I will text you instructions for getting in. Please park ACROSS the street facing east (so you can get out of the car easily) or on the far side of the the driveway so you don't block me in or out. Please make sure to turn around only in my driveway and not in the neighbors' driveways. Thank you! Other things to note I live in a private space downstairs where my 2 indoor/outdoor cats come and go. I have enjoyed hosting cats and small, well behaved dogs, but have not had such good luck with large, barking dogs. Please let me know before booking if you are bringing an animal. I would love to welcome them all, but also must think of the comfort of the other occupants of the house. When you are here, if you need to speak with me, please text or call me and I'll come right up. I need to advise you that I am a dedicated recycler. There are trash and mixed recycle bins in the kitchen. Please break down all clean boxes along the seam and rinse out containers from drinks and take-out foods. Never put containers or cups with liquids in the trash. Empty them into the sink first. You can put discarded food down the disposal (except fibrous foods such as corn silk, cabbage, celery, etc.) or in the bucket for compost. All this keeps trash to a minimum and keeps the kitchen more sanitary. Please spread the shower curtain after showering, and leave bathroom door open when you are finished. I apologize for the men's room ceiling. It has recently been replaced, but because people keep leaving the door and window shut, small amounts of mold keep returning. Before you leave, you can remove the bedding or leave bed unmade, and please leave the keys in the door where you found them. I hope you have wonderful stay! Please park on the left side of the driveway or across the street facing east. Please don’t block me in the garage . Thank you.
