The two guest rooms are rented separately and share a lounge, a balcony, and a full bath. The suite overlooks our great room. It has two rockers, a sofa, a small refrigerator-freezer, and table. Wi-fi and cell service work fine, some guests need their 'hot spot'. Because our floor plan is so open, we can't recommend that travelers with allergy to dogs choose our place to stay. The space The guest suite is our second floor loft which overlooks our great room. Each of the two bedrooms is rented separately. They share a full tub-and-shower bath, and a lounge area furnished w. sofa, drop-leaf table and rocking chairs. Each B.R. sleeps two in queen-size, real beds. Each bedroom has a closet - with space for the guest- and some drawers. We built this place eight years ago and it has an open floor plan, with a passive solar window wall in the great room. Kitchen privileges are available only by advance agreement. In summer, Becket is on the forested edge of Berkshire County's wide range of cultural and performance options: Jacob's Pillow Dance festival is 3 miles away. Tanglewood is a 25 min. drive. Shakespeare & Co. and Berkshire Theater Festival venues are 20 - 30 min. away. Year 'round there are museums: The Norman Rockwell is in Stockbridge, and the Berkshire Museum is in Pittsfield. The Eric Carle is in Amherst, about 45 minutes drive. The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Museum is in Williamstown and MassMoCA is in North Adams both about an hour away, and four miles from each other. The live theaters offer a shorter list of productions in fall, winter and spring. Becket's Dream Away Lodge is a "best kept secret" with a menu for all tastes and a variety of music offerings in a uniquely satisfying atmosphere. Their menu and entertainers are online. Two small, local diners offer breakfast choices and a variety of lunch and early-dinner eat-in or take-out options. Lee offers a satisfying list of international restaurants and fine steaks, chops and seafood places. Lenox and Stockbridge also offer very good eateries and entertainment venues. Lee has a Prime Outlets mall and small shops abound in Great Barrington, 30 min. drive, Stockbridge, 20 min. away, and Lenox, 20 min. drive. We're in a private, forest community that offers small beaches on five clean lakes and minimal traffic on our well-maintained hard-pack roads. Access to the highway is a one-minute drive. We are rigid about being smoke free, and have nearly no dust because there's no duct work. We have good cell phone service and wi-fi. Our rural location does mean that some guests must rely on their, "hot spots" for complete internet service. Guest access Bedroom has queen-size, real bed, with deep, firm foam mattress. The room has big windows, cozy bedding, and cross-ventilation and fans in summer. With pre-planning, our microwave is usually available. We provide basic dishes and a Keurig coffee-maker, but we don't provide breakfast. All bedding, towels, paper-products are provided. We have parking off the road for guests' cars. During your stay We're aware that many of our traveler-guests need a good night's sleep, access to the internet and good cell service, hot water and privacy. We're happy to help with directions and quick referrals to local diners and a bit further-away Very Good Restaurants. We're usually home but if guests will need to come and go, we provide a key. We're usually happy to visit with our airbnb guests who are interested in chatting, but we do often have things to do away from home. Other things to note Fall foliage color is a highlight of each year in this area; and winter-weather activities are available. A cross-country ski resort is only a few miles away, and several down-hill ski places are within a half-hour's drive. There are three "entries" to the Appalachian Trail, within a few miles and the October Mtn. state forest also has groomed trails for hikers. Other state and local government-maintained hiking areas are within convenient driving distances. Museums, live music, live theater and cinema are all offered during the, "off seasons" even after the intense, summer season offerings at Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow and Williamstown Theater. Fine food in really good restaurants is generally available in Lee, Lenox and Stockbridge, and at Dream Away Lodge in Becket for the summer and its short 'off-season'. Holiday dining events are available that range from buffets to reservations-required limited seating.
