Winter offers groomed trails to cross country ski and skate ski on at the historic Izaak Walton Inn. *Please note the Izaak Walton is closed until Winter 2024.* The space Just steps from the historic Izaak Walton Inn, you can feel the energy of passing Amtrak trains from your backyard or the nearby overhead walking bridge before enjoying one of many available activities. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy nearby hiking, white water rafting, trout fishing, horseback riding, golfing, mountain bike riding, cross country skiing, or snowshoeing. The newly renovated Essex Mountain House provides classic character with modern conveniences that is perfect for individuals or families. Taking the train to the Essex stop we are walking distance from the heated train platform. We look forward to seeing you soon! Guest access Guests have access to the entire house. Other things to note NO CELL SERVICE in Essex, MT or within 20 minutes in either direction Wifi provided by Starlink Landline is Available in the Home for Local Calls and Long Distance in the United States. Smart TV with streaming services and a wide selection of DVD’s provided, there is no Cable. PLAN AHEAD: Essex is a remote location. It is best to plan ahead and buy groceries before you arrive. There are train tracks with active trains that pass behind the house. Some guests may be sensitive to the noise, although most do not find the noise excessive.
