Come enjoy laid-back Hawaiian living at our new and modern hale (house). The location of our place allows you to conveniently enjoy the many stunning sites the Hamakua Coast has to offer. Walk down to the ocean at Laupahoehoe Point or hike up through the rainforest and take in the stunning views. We are nestled between Hilo and Waimea, close to Akaka Falls, Waipio Valley, Kalopa Park, and the historic town of Honokaa. This cozy, stylish, and clean one-bedroom guest suite is spacious with everything you need to stay comfortable on the magical Big Island. ✴ Reliable high-speed wifi ✴ Rainshower head ✴ Shampoo, conditioner, soap, towels, hairdryer ✴ Ceiling fans ✴ Comfy queen bed ✴ Luxurious linens, pillows, and blankets ✴ Fully equipped kitchen with all the essentials ✴ Complimentary Kona coffee and Aloha drinks ✴ Outdoor dining area ✴ 20-minute walk to the Ocean ✴ Washer and Dryer adjacent to the unit with complimentary laundry detergent and basket When you pull up into the driveway, you will see a gated yellow house on the left. No code or key is necessary to open the gate. Just make sure to keep the gate closed after entering and leaving. After booking, you will receive an email from August Smart Lock with instructions to open the front door. You will have access to your suite and the shared yard, outdoor seating areas, and laundry room. Please note that we live next door and we have a medium-sized dog on the property. We are around to help answer any questions. Feel free to keep in touch by phone or text. This is a very rural area, so if hitting the bars and restaurants is your thing, this may not be the place for you. If your jam is lush and beautiful scenery with access to the ocean, parks, hikes, and waterfalls nearby then you have come to the right place. Papaaloa Country Store and Cafe is a 5 min drive where you can get cooked food and groceries (Mon-Sat). The nearest gas station and post office is also a 5 min drive. A visit would be incomplete without a stop to Laupahoehoe Point. This is a great place to enjoy the park and even swim when the weather and waves permit. Or hike the other direction up Jardine Road for some stunning views of the ocean and sprawling landscape. The charming and historic town of Honokaa is a 20 min drive west. There you will be able to grab a bite and get other necessities. 10 min further northwest, you will approach the magical Waipio Valley where you will be able to visit the wild horses, hang out at the beach, or do another hike to the waterfall. In the opposite direction going 20 min east, you will be able to visit the popular attraction, Akaka Falls. Honomu is also another little town where you may do some shopping for vintage records or get that caffeine fix. If you have the time to keep venturing east, make sure you also take the scenic route down towards Onomea Trail. For those that like to surf, the local spot would be Honolii Beach. This is certainly not an exhaustive list of places to see in the region. If you're curious and adventurous and would like to know more, please don't hesitate to ask. There is no doubt you will need a car to get here and around. Uber and Lyft are pretty much nonexistent here and the only public transportation is the public bus which may or may not pick you up on schedule. Parking is free and there is space for one car on top of the driveway. Just make sure to keep the gate closed at all times to keep the house dog in and the wild pigs out. Noise: We have an indoor dog who alerts us of strangers and animals. Also, we are situated by the rainforest on the main road where the songs of the coqui frogs meet the sounds of the traffic. Please communicate any concerns. Dining Needs: The following items should meet your dining needs: microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker/French press, electric kettle, Brita pitcher, ice cube trays, sink /garbage disposal, full-size refrigerator, and gas stove. There is no dishwasher. Please keep in mind you will be entering the countryside and there aren't really any dining options nearby. The closest for cooked food and groceries will be the Papaaloa Country Mart, which is about a 5-minute drive east. You may want to plan a stop for food and groceries before checking in.
