Charming Brookside Artisan Home
Relax, work & play in this peaceful country home built by a renowned furnituremaker and filled with handmade furniture and art. Explore the countryside, listen to the babbling brook & visit the many local family farms. There is a large firepit and plenty of outdoor activities at your doorstep, including biking, hiking, and x-country skiing. Come get away from it all while being only 10 minutes to Greenfield and the quaint village of Shelburne Falls. Easy 30 minute drive to the five college area. The space You'll have the entire house to yourself on this private and tranquil countryside property. There are over three acres of land and a babbling brook that surrounds the house on three sides, providing a gentle and soothing background sound. The owners, Mary Beth and Tim, live on the property in an apartment that shares a wall with the house, but the two spaces are completely separate and well insulated and the owners will respect your privacy and remain hands-off unless you need anything during your stay. The house has an open and airy feeling to it with plenty of windows and beautiful wood flooring in the living room and den with smart TV on the first floor. The kitchen is well supplied for cooking and the wraparound covered porch can be accessed directly from the kitchen. There are two areas in the house with desks that can be used as workspaces, the den on the first floor or the study (also used as a third bedroom) on the second floor. The Wi-Fi is high-speed and reliable in both workspaces. There are three rooms that guests can sleep in on the second floor. Two are full size bedrooms with queen size beds in each and the third is a study with a pull-out couch (always pulled out and set up as a bed) with a full size mattress and topper for comfort. The spacious bathroom, with a tub shower, is also on the second floor. Guest access The location is an easy ten minute drive from the I91 rotary in Greenfield. While it is a quick drive to the towns of Greenfield and Shelburne Falls, the property is far away from the hustle and bustle of city life and is surrounded by rolling hills, wooded areas, apple orchards, and small family-run farms. There is plenty of off street parking on the property. Parking is right off of the road on a flat gravel parking area and it is a 50 foot walk down a gently sloping stone walkway to the entrance of the house. You can walk 5 minutes down the road to a self-serve farm store operated by one of many local family farms that have been in operation for over 200 years, with 10+ generations of farmers. Much of the land surrounding the house is forever protected as agricultural land and many of the local farmers welcome neighbors to walk, ski, snowshoe, and sled in the plentiful open fields and wooded trails. The area is also a mecca for road, gravel, and mountain biking.
