Footbridge Farm is a quiet country get-away located on 90 wooded acres, 15 miles NE of Decorah. We are close to the mouth of Canoe Creek, the Upper Iowa River and adjacent to state DNR land. The cozy owner-built cabin has an open ceiling with exposed beams and rafters giving a sense of spaciousness. Local stone was used in the exterior walls and the floor-to-ceiling fire back behind the wood-burning stove. The floors are oak and slate. Detailed craftsmanship can be found throughout the cabin. The space The downstairs kitchenette has a small fridge and a limestone countertop with a bar sink that can be set up for hand washing dishes. A microwave/air fryer/convection oven combo, one burner induction cooktop, gas grill and toaster are available for meal prep. The cabin is heated with a gas furnace and a wood burning stove. A window air conditioning unit is installed downstairs from May - October. The upstairs loft holds a queen size bed and a futon. As the futon makes into a double (not Queen) bed, sleeping arrangements can be a snug fit for 4 adults, depending on the size and sleeping requirements of individual guests. Guest access We are on 5+ miles of gravel road (depending on which direction you are coming from). When you arrive, there is a dedicated parking space for your vehicle. The cabin is a short walk (80 yds) from your car across a footbridge. A garden cart is available to help haul your belongings. Other things to note We are in a valley, so anticipate poor cell service (texting works best). We have fiber optic internet service. Footbridge Farm has several mowed trails for hiking and an expansive clifftop view of the Upper Iowa River. Weather permitting, the fire ring offers a relaxing spot to unwind. As we live in the country, we coexist with wild animals and insects but do our best to keep interactions with them to a minimum. Due to health concerns, we do not spray for insects, but use nontoxic methods.
