Beautiful pied-à-terre with modern finishes in the Faubourg Marigny Historic District. Built in 1852, this cozy home faces a quiet shared courtyard between the two buildings. Five steps reach the unit, which is all on one level. The two-bedroom home offers a queen bed and two single beds, plus original hardwood floors, top of the line appliances, and quartz countertops. Just a few minutes walk to the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, and Frenchman Street. Nestled between the eclectic Bywater and the historic French Quarter, the Faubourg Marigny is a quaint historic neighborhood with brightly colored homes. This area was once the plantation of Bernard de Marigny, a wealthy Creole and political leader of old New Orleans. In 1806, he had his property subdivided and developed as a neighborhood. Many of the houses in this area are over 100 years old, but some are much older. Frenchmen Street, where the locals go to listen to jazz, is in The Marigny and only four blocks from our beautiful home. Visit Buffa's, a local bar and eatery around the corner, or Port of Call for their famous burgers. And, the convenience store across the street has fantastic shrimp po-boys. As of March 2022, we have added a new central air conditioner and heater, new twin bed frames in the second bedroom, new bedding, rugs, and smart television in the master bedroom, and numerous other touches to make your stay more comfortable. Note that the unit DOES NOT HAVE an actual living room. See the floor plan in the photos so you are not surprised. It consists of two bedrooms and two bathrooms with a kitchen between them. There is a nice shaded courtyard with plenty of seating, and most people spend their time out on the town. Who needs a living room with so much to do in New Orleans? We have one secured parking spot for an additional $50 per day. This is the only parking spot in the 6-unit complex, so secure it early to make sure you have parking. There are several other parking lots in the area. Street parking is limited to two hours for non-residents. We will be available by call or text to answer questions or help you with anything you need. You'll receive our contact information before you check in, and we are very responsive to our guests. The Faubourg Marigny area is truly a historic gem. This is the real New Orleans, where people live and work. The colorful and eclectic houses, shops, restaurants, and jazz bars make the area a destination of its own. Stay here for the local color and memories. Go to the French Quarter for the tourist experience. The French Quarter and Frenchmen Street are both in walking distance. Uber and Lyft are readily available in the neighborhood. Streetcars can get you to City Park, the cemeteries, the Garden District, and more. Street parking is limited to two hours during the day in front of the building. Parking is very limited in the French Quarter and the Marigny. However, there is street parking on the other side of North Rampart. In addition, there is one parking space for the complex inside of our fence that can be reserved in advance for $50 a day. Parking is available on a first-come, first served basis. We can send a request to you for payment after booking if you decide to use the parking space. Note that the base price is for 2 guests. Be sure to enter the correct number of people in your group so there is no surprise when you are charged for "extra people." We handle our listings this way to make it slightly cheaper for smaller groups, but to cover the cost of extra laundry and consumables for larger groups. We recently purchased this beautiful home, and have 20 years owning and operating vacation rentals. We will make sure your visit is perfect, but we need to hear from you DURING your visit if there is something you need.
