The Moraine Cottage is a charming, airconditioned cottage up a hill in the woods of West Falmouth. Walking distance to West Falmouth Market, Village Café and Eulinda's Ice Cream is 1 min., 3 min. walk to the Shining Sea Bikeway and 20 min. walk (3 min. drive) to Chapoquoit beach. Ideal for a young, energetic family with unlimited mobility. No pets please! Attic bedroom, small bedroom w/bunk bed for 2 kids, living room w/sofa bed for 2, covered porch, outdoor table and shower. The cottage is small and old-fashioned , surrounded by woods. There are 18 gradual stone steps ascending from the parking space to the entrance door. The stairs to the attic bedroom are steep and narrow. There are gates and barriers available to ensure the safety of small children. People with limited mobility may also find the steps problematic. The shower in the bathroom is small (like everything else in the cottage), and larger people may need to use the extra outdoor shower instead. The cottage and the surrounding, contiguous outdoor spaces. Watch out for poison ivy in unprepared areas! Carmina and I will be around to help when you visit. We live right next door. West Falmouth is a small village, just minutes from downtown Falmouth. We have access to the bike path, an ice cream shop and breakfast cafe, and a market with an amazing deli and a Thursday night BBQ every week with live music, weather permiting! West Falmouth Harbor, on the way to Chappy Beach, is site of the iconic boathouse view that graces the Government page of the Falmouth Town Hall website. The terrain lies along the West Falmouth Ridge, and the rough, hilly woods behind the cottage are marked by ancient stone walls, massive boulders and quarried remains of the famous West Falmouth pink granite used in the JFK Eternal Flame Memorial at Arlington Cemetery. The West Falmouth Library, housed in a beautiful recently renovated historic building, has a great collection for the whole family, and just behind it are town-owned tennis courts and a baseball field where the kids can play. The town is quiet and child-friendly. The Shining Sea Bikeway is the path to take!
