Description
This home is right in the center of Collingswood (NJ), a walkable and welcoming community. The house is just a half a block off Haddon Ave, Collingswood's "Main Street." You can easily walk to the Farmer's Market, the PATCO speedline/train (which will drop you off in Center City Philadelphia), coffee shops, stores, the park, places w/live music, the river, more than a dozen excellent restaurants, a brewery, an ice cream/custard/water ice shop, and more. You will LOVE this location. The space Both bedrooms have a queen sized bed, closet space, and plenty of drawer space as well. One of the bedrooms has a wall of bookshelves, and books of all types for your reading pleasure. The bathroom is small, but functional, neat, and clean. There are plenty of towels and small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash as well as toothpaste, q-tips, a hair dryer, and other bathroom necessities. There is just one bathroom, so please keep that in mind if you are booking for 3 or more people. I provide all sheets, comforters, blankets, pillows, towels, etc. The kitchen is well-equipped -- microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, etc. There are some basic (and not so basic) spices and condiments in the kitchen along with coffee and tea. Before you arrive, I'll put some soda and bottled water in the refrigerator for you and some snack bars on the table. If you're on a budget or just prefer to cook your own food, Sarah's Produce is just a block away with all sorts of fresh fruits and vegetables. The Farmer's Market on Saturday will have meats, cheeses, breads, honey, jams, and everything else you'd expect from an award-winning farmer's market. The nearest grocery stores - Acme, Wegmans, Whole Foods, and Mom's - are a short drive away (you could probably walk to Acme, but carrying things home will be a pain), and the Rite Aid and WaWa across the street from Sarah's have a small selection of packaged goods - pasta, cereals, etc. The laundry room -- washer, dryer, detergent, drying rack -- is also available to you at no extra charge. (Please let me know if you did laundry, though, so I can be sure to clean out the lint trap.) The house is clean and neat. It's a pet-free and smoke-free home with central a/c and heat. In the summer, the upstairs is warmer, and in the winter cooler, than the downstairs, but there is a ceiling fan and extra blankets in both rooms, which seem to do the trick for most everyone who's stayed here. The temperature downstairs is comfortable, year round. Collingswood is a great place for a quiet get-away. It's a friendly and welcoming community, full of award-winning, independent restaurants and family-owned stores. There're several bakeries and two coffee shops, art galleries, places for live music, thrift stores, and a park all within a few blocks. Our restaurants range from pizza and sandwiches to Indian, Brazilian, Mexican, Japanese, and Italian. There's often something happening on "The Avenue," and you'll be a half-block away from most of it: Antique car shows (every 3rd Thursday, April-Oct), our Saturday morning Farmers' Market (May to Nov), Second Saturdays with art and music, Art Festivals (May and August), A Book Festival (Oct), and even a Mummers strut (4th Wednesdays, April-Aug). There is a binder with information about things to do in and a folder with menus in the kitchen for you. Guest access Please make yourself at home. Once here, you'll be free to take advantage of anything in the the house. The house has a piano, front porch, back deck, and the tv has an HD antenna and a Roku streaming tv/media player. There is an encrypted wifi signal and you'll be given the password for that upon arrival. If you need something and don't see it, please just ask. If I have it, chances are you can use it. I have a keypad lock on my front door. Prior to your arrival, I'll program it with the last 4 digits of the phone number you use with AirBnb, allowing you to come and go easily without needing to keep track of a key. I can typically be very flexible with check-in and check-out times, and if you'd like to leave your bags at the house while you spend your last day out and about, that's usually fine as well. Let me know your plans and I'll let you know if I can accommodate them. Other things to note While Collingswood is a great town, it's also a "dry" town, which means that the restaurants don't serve or sell wine, beer, or liquor. However, several restaurants are currently selling/serving only New Jersey wines and we now have our first independent brewery, Devil's Creek. You are welcome to bring your own alcoholic beverage - including from the brewery - into any establishment, though. If you want to avoid the hassle of bringing your own alcohol, two great pubs are about a mile from my house in Haddon Township (and a liquor store is between the two).
