Description

Bed and breakfast in an old barn and village house from 1744, renovated with taste and comfort, for an exceptional mountain experience. In a medieval village, the house is located in the heart of the mountains, on the GR10E. A stone's throw from Mont Valier, emblematic figure of the Couserans, it is at the crossroads of the Biros, Bethmale and Bellongue valleys, with picturesque stone villages. You will enjoy the terrace with views of the mountains, swimming pool, ping pong, BBQ, etc.! The space The bedroom, with exposed stone wall, is located on the 1st floor of the house. It has a large double bed and a desk area with a single bed. It overlooks a beautiful private bathroom. The house has a large south-facing terrace, with a stone barbecue and deckchairs available. You will find in the garden a small swimming pool (2 x 3 m, unheated, open from May-June depending on the weather), ideal for relaxing after exercise, having an aperitif, or cooling off on a hot summer's day. Next to a gravel field where you can play petanque, ping pong, badminton, molkky... (equipment available) We have three cats at home, beware of allergies! Cat lovers, on the other hand, will be delighted. Breakfast is included in the accommodation price and can be served indoors or outdoors. We also offer a paid table d'hôte service to be booked the day before, with a lunch basket at noon (€10), dinner (€22), as well as a drinks menu. We adopt an ecological approach: wood heating (wood stove), renewable electricity subscribed to Enercoop, EU Ecolabel certified toiletries and maintenance products, local and/or organic food or even vegetable garden as much as possible. Guest access *On foot or by bike* At the entrance to the village of Bordes sur Lez (coming from Castillon-en-Couserans), wooden signs with the name of the guest room "Les Chatougoulis" will guide you from the main road, taking the bridge to the hamlet of Ourjout, to the house. *By car* At the entrance to the village of Bordes sur Lez, coming from Castillon-en-Couserans, wooden signs in the name of the guest room "Les Chatougoulis" will guide you from the main road, taking the slightly narrow bridge to the right towards the hamlet of Ourjout, towards a parking lot in the hamlet located 20 m from the house. If the bridge seems too narrow, or to drop off your belongings directly at the foot of the house, a wider road allows access to a private parking space directly on the plot. Continue on the main road and cross the village of Bordes sur Lez. At the exit of the village, after leaving the Edf hydroelectric power station on your right, immediately to the right after the bridge a road leads directly to the hamlet from behind. Continuing straight you will arrive at a very narrow passage: you have arrived, the house is on the corner. Please let us know if you're arriving by this route. *By public transport* You can get to Toulouse, Boussens or Foix by train or overnight train. Bus 452 connects St Girons from Boussens (1 connection/day with Toulouse as well), and 454 from Foix. Boussens station is the one offering the most frequent connections, with systematic bus connections to Saint Girons. From Saint Girons, bus 455 serves Bordes sur Lez directly (stop at 350 m) at certain times, on others it stops at Castillon-en-Couserans and an on-demand transport (to be booked the day before) based on the schedules allows you to finish the journey. Bus schedules can be found on the "LiO" region website. Feel free to also look at the possibilities offered by carpooling (Blablacar). *Transportation service* We offer a transport service to allow you to reach Castillon-en-Couserans (€7), Saint Girons (€30), the TER station in Boussens (€60) or Foix (€75), the Maison du Valier (€15), or other destinations on request (start/end of hikes, etc.) During your stay We will be at your disposal to advise you on ideas for outings, hikes, to give you a tour of the vegetable garden, etc. Other things to note The house is located in the medieval village of Ourjout, with its 11th-12th century church and 13th century bridge. The village, Bordes Uchentein, was selected in the "Mon beau village" competition in the "Heritage" category. There are 5 churches dating from the 11th to the 18th century, 3 of which are classified as Historic Monuments. That of Ourjout in particular has murals adorning the choir dating from the 12th century in a remarkable state of conservation. It's a hiking and cycling paradise. The house is 300 m from the GR10E and on the road to the passes, offering a comfortable stop on the crossing of the Pyrenees. The nearby Riberot Valley is the starting point for many magnificent hikes, including the one up Mont Valier, the emblematic summit of the Couserans. The hamlet is also located at the crossroads of the Biros and Bethmale valleys, and not far from that of Bellongue. The Biros Valley offers magnificent hikes, on a balcony with views of the chain, to cirques, old mines or to peaks such as the peaks of Crabère or Maubermé. The Bethmale Valley leads to the Col de la Core with its magnificent view and many hiking departures, passing by Lake Bethmale (15 minutes from the house by car), renowned for its splendid colors and accessible to all (PRM). The Bellongue Valley leads to the village of Saint Lary and the famous Portet d'Aspet pass. These three valleys are home to picturesque stone villages that will delight amateurs. We will be happy to inform you and advise you on hiking routes and ideas for things to do around adapted to your desires. For the cyclists among you, the house is surrounded by passes regularly used by the Tour de France. You are at the foot of the Col de la Core and a few kilometers from the Col du Portet d'Aspet. A little further you will find the Col d'Agnes, the Col de Menté, the Col du Portech... and many more!
