Moorside Farm is situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Parks. The newly renovated farm house retains many of its original features. The area is peaceful, take a moment to breathe it in. Admire the rugged landscapes by day and star filled skies by night. Scenic views from each window. Relax and feel cosy by the wood burning stove. Eat at the breakfast bar in the traditional farmhouse kitchen. A 'home from home' experience in the dales. The space Although no longer a full-time working farm the land surrounding us is managed by ourselves. A local farmer uses the land for grazing their Swaledale ewes. We offer a spacious and comfortable accommodation over three floors - 1 king-sized bed, en-suite with shower and walk in wardrobe, large double room with a mezzanine floor above with far reaching views, twin room (two singles) with views of the pasture land, Twin room (two singles) over two floors, house bathroom with large bath and separate shower cubicle. Downstairs: porch, living room with woodburning stove, smart TV and DVD player. Farm style kitchen with a Range oven surrounded by original Yorkshire stone. Microwave, dishwasher, undercounter fridge. Utility room with sink, washing machine, large fridge and under counter freezer. Downstairs bathroom with Yorkshire stone window sills and shower cubicle. Dining room with large dining table. Moorside Farm has underfloor heating downstairs and radiators upstairs. Wi-Fi throughout the cottage. Idyllic location for sleeping up to 8. A beautiful sociable space for walkers, families and friends. Back and front enclosed gardens. There are unique features such as a wishing well, insect hotel and views of the fells and Simon’s Seat. Making an ideal get away/retreat for relaxing, walking, exploring or a little reflection time. We welcome two medium sized dogs, over 1 year old, who are house trained with good recall. A large varied selection of books, DVDs and games are at your disposal. In the spring you will be able to see the new born lambs running and jumping. The Oyster Catchers make their nests in the field adjacent to us and you will hear and see Curlews and Lapwings. Occasionally in the evening you can see the majestic barn owl that hunts in the surrounding fields, gliding over the drystone walls. Later in year the swallows return to nest in our out buildings and they swoop just overhead early in the morning and the evening foraging for insects. They usually stay for a few months before they migrate to warmer climates. The site of partridge, pheasants and grouse in the yard in the mornings is quite common, more adventurous rabbits will come into the gardens. We have a few birds of prey that have made an appearance in last couple of years. You can often see them circling overhead on a summer’s day. A well-equipped cottage for you to enjoy relaxing, cooking, playing, walking and sleeping under a silent starry canvas. Guest access The cottage is situated in a rural area, a car is essential for visiting sites futher afield. There is parking in the yard for two/three cars. There is a taxi service that is run from Burnsall. We are just a few miles away from Grassington. There are an abundant variety of walks from the farm to local villages and pubs. Grimwith reservoir is a half an hour walk away and you can walk around it seeing the wildlife. This is one of our regular walks. Please take a look at our photos for inspiration. There are many places to visit such as Brimham Rocks, Bolton Abbey, Turkish Baths in Harrogate, Coldcuts, Skipton Castle and Kilnsey Park. Parcevall Hall, Harlow Carr and The Himalayan Gardens and Sculpture Park are worth a visit. Shop at Ilkley, Harrogate and Leeds. Places to eat inc: The Red Lion - Burnsall The Angel at Hetton. She is inquisitive and likes to explore open vehicles and she might try and join your group. She is friendly and might try and enter the cottage without invitation!
