Docked moments away from the heart of London, this floating landmark nestled in Tideway Village is the perfect starting point for exploring the city. Very well situated close to supermarkets, restaurants and the Battersea Power shopping centre. The St Michael, as seen in the New York Times, pairs the ship’s original features as a seafaring vessel with a modern and stylish interior. The space The Midships flat has been renovated over a number of years, once serving as functional spaces for the St Michael's mission to trawl the hardy waters of the North Sea. Now with upgraded WiFi: using the StarLink system, speeds are now great, ideal for streaming, working or playing. Average speeds are around 100mb/s now. Perfect for families, couples, or friends set on exploring the capitol, the Midships has 2 bedrooms with 2 en-suite shower rooms, a utility room, kitchen and adjoined open plan living room. There is a travel cot available for use. The kitchen, previously housing an enormous winch, is well-equipped and is connected to the spacious and airy open-plan living room & dining space, custom-built atop the teak foredeck. Down the stairwell, built into what were once two of the St Michael's 4 fuel tanks, you'll find the fishroom - now 2 bedrooms with double beds and en-suite bathrooms - as well as a utility room with washing machine and dryer, alongside other amenities. In case you need extra space, the sofa upstairs folds out into a comfortable double bed. You have full access to the roof garden above the Midships flat which is accessed by a ladder; turn left as you exit the French doors to the starboard side of the boat and walk to the end of the deck where you can see the ladder up to the garden. The steps have grip paint but take care when wet as it may be slippery! Guest access Easy to access via the gate which leads from a tranquil plaza set back from Nine Elms Lane. Best reached by public transport, zipcar, or taxi. Contact us if you’d like any help navigating to the boat. Best to set the destination in Google Maps or other apps as “Riverlight One” on Nine Elms Lane, as this is directly in front of the boat. Other things to note The St Michael is home to other residents, being split into 3 apartments, so please take this into consideration during your stay in the midships flat. Simple rules of courtesy and consideration apply here; please don't walk into areas which are not specified as these are for the use of residents on the boat, please try not to make too much noise, especially after 11pm, and just behave as you would want your neighbours to! We have never had any major issues besides guests mistakenly using other outdoor spaces, so we're sure you will keep our track record good and we thank you in advance for your kind understanding! Being a boat on the tidal thames, you will experience some rocking when the tide is high. This should be fine for most people, but if you have extreme motion sickness please let us know and we can leave some motion sickness pills at the boat prior to your arrival! We supply some "Kwells" tablets just in case, which can be found in the top drawer in the kitchen. If the boat is leaning unusually, sometimes to the right or left, please don't be alarmed - the St Michael is a large vessel and she sometimes settles in different ways or floats with a list due to tide dynamics or mooring rope arrangements. Importantly, please feel free to point out any discrepancies like this to us as sometimes there are small adjustments which can be made to resolve them - so feedback or reporting, or any questions, are very welcome. Access via the gangplank involves some stairs, and there are some heights on the boat so if you feel the need, make sure to keep an eye on young children! I grew up on the boat though, and came out unscathed, so it is safe as long as you are careful. Finally, due to the variations in tides, sometimes the gangplank can be quite steep. It has a grippy floor texture and strong handrails so it can be safely crossed, but just be aware of this in case you find it to be an issue!
