Description

Welcome to The Rustic Escape Farm Retreat where time is spent refreshing the mind in the great outdoors. Our off grid eco friendly stargazing dome is hidden amongst the forest on 83 acres of breath taking views. Take a stroll on our groomed trails or come up and visit our hobby farm with highland cows, sheep and alpacas. In the summer to fall add a unique date night experience watching a movie with the cows. Peace, nature and a little animal therapy is what everyone needs to experience. The space Welcome to The Rustic Escape winner of the 2025 Canadian Choice award. You can find us on social media and The Rustic Escape. No Cleaning Fee! No Pets! Please don’t feel overwhelmed or discouraged when reading all the information we only provide detailed information to help guests make this unique experience easy and relaxing. What to Expect: Expect nights to be cool in the winter as the dome is a giant tent. Keeping the fire fed through the night is important to keep the chill out. Remember it’s about the experience unlike your regular hotels that offer insulated structures and automatic heat sources with regular hydro. Your Source of heat The Fireplace: When booking in the winter and cool months when a fire is needed please know the hosts are only available up to 6:00pm to feed the fire so keep that in mind when booking. The wood fireplace is your only source of heat. We do provide the wood for the fireplace and for the sauna. Extra fire wood is found outside the dome opposite side of the patio. Fireplace is shut down and not available for use between June and September. ***Would not recommend renting in -15 or colder temperatures. It can get chilly at night.*** The Farm: Guests are welcome to come visit the farm animals (alpacas, cows, sheep, turkeys and chickens). Do not enter the pen feed or pet from outside the fencing. Cooking Sources: Full kitchen with oven/stove, camper size fridge, sink (only operates in late spring to early fall) and cupboards. Outdoor BBQ also available to use. Please note that guests are asked to please clean their own dishes before checkout. Thank you. What we provide/water Source: We provide salt, pepper, sugar, tea, coffee. Guests are responsible for bringing their own milk, creamer, condiments, cooking oils, food, drinks and drinking water. A large jug of our well water is provided from October - June but note it is non potable so we recommend bringing your own drinking water. Shower: Outdoor shower now being offered for a quick rinse off in hot temperatures and sauna. Shower is only available to use from June until October 1st. Water and shower system is turned off from October until June. Please keep in mind this is an eco off grid shower so no more then 5 minute showers as it is run off a basic solar system so it’s important to always be mindful of how much power your using especially on cloudy days. Battery lights are also provided as a back up. Add Ons: Please read listing as we do offer chacutierie boxes, breakfast boxes, and dipped strawberries. Must order and pay in advance. Anniversary and birthday packages available as well. Please inquire. When you arrive at the dome be sure to read the information book which has all instructions on how to operate solar/fireplace/stove. Parking: Trail conditions may vary during different times of the season, during wet conditions expect mud and puddles. You may need to park in the driveway and hike to rentals. Check with host for details prior to your visit. If grounds are good guests may drive down the field and park at the guest parking spot which then you’ll have only a 3 minute walk to the dome. Under no circumstances is anyone to drive their vehicle past guest parking. For safety reasons. Wagon/sled provided to help make it a little easier. No vehicles allowed past the green and white guest parking sign or a $200 charge will be made and you will be asked to leave. Linens: We provide cookware, plates, cups, bowls and utensils. Queen bed comes fully linen but guests must bring bedding if using futon. A maximum of 3 guests allowed. Pets: No pets allowed with my son’s severe allergies to dogs and him being inside the dome at times to assist in cleaning we ask all pets stay home. Also due to previous damage to floors and furniture from animals being inside the dome we respectfully ask you keep your pets at home. We love animals too but this is a pet free dome. Washroom: Brand new detached outhouse. Super clean and doesn’t smell like those over used ones at the carnival. Have been complimented for the luxury outhouse we provide. ***Please keep in mind this is still camping and the dome is basically a big giant tent so temperatures fluctuate and doesn’t keep the heat or coolness in like a house or cabin. Expect condensation.*** Air Conditioning…There isn’t any: No AC so keep in mind summer it tends to get quite warm inside but cools down nicely at night. Battery fan, two neck fans and a plug in fan is provided. We always suggest exploring the outdoors during the day as there is so much to see here and around the area.. Solar Power: Please DO NOT bring any electrical plugged in items other than phones. Any high watt items can burn the batter dry and cause serious issues to the battery. Guests would be responsibly for the purchase of a new battery or the maintenance it would cost to fix (we had our first experience in 2024 so this is why we are addressing this issue) Lights and plugs run off solar. If experiencing lots of cloudy days solar may not last as long so please keep that in mind. We do offer lots of battery lanterns/lights as well. Directions: When you arrive drive down the open field and take the trail to your right that says “tent/dome”. Guests will park across from the glamping tent where the sign says “ Guest parking” and walk 3 minutes up the trail past the glamping tent (dome on right hand side). Sled provided to haul luggage if needed in winter and a wagon in the summer. If host is available we can help with any luggage just let us know. We do our best to keep trails groomed but please wear appropriate foot wear for winter/icy conditions or muddy conditions as you will have a short walk on dirt off road trails. Snowmobiles/ ATV….Yes you can bring yours! Public snowmobile trails located 8 minutes from our place and you can drive them on the main roads to get to them. Same with ATV trails. All an easy close access from here. There is a glamping tent rental on site that you Will see as you arrive. Rentals are located a far distance from each other for privacy. Nothing is shared between rentals other then the trails. Hosts live on site and might be out working on the property. We try our best not to disturb guests. Please note that although guests live on site they both have other jobs so we are only available until 6:00pm (when not working) unless it’s an emergency. We ask that you read the info book to help you in using things in the dome. Do not walk on pond in winter months which is located at the cabin area (is closed) Everything you need to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing night is provided from a French press, to utensils, bedding blankets and pillows. Bring your food & drinks and come enjoy your stay at The Rustic Escape. Guest access Guests will park by the glamping tent in front of guest parking sign and hike three minutes to the dome. We do provide a black fishing sled for guests to use to haul their luggage to the dome if needed. You’ll find the sled beside the guest parking sign. Please return sled back when checking out. Wagon used in summer months for bringing luggage to the dome. Guests can also park in driveway and hike in if preferred. Approx 7 minute walk. Absolutely no driving down the trail beside the glamping tent. If guests disobey rules you will be asked to leave. For safety reason all guests are to park where the guests parking sign is. If guests need assistance getting to the dome due to ice or medical reasons Please reach out to the hosts. We are happy to help when we can. Other things to note Property is mostly fenced in. We do our best to clear trails for hiking, skiing, snowshoeing , atv’s or snowmobiling. Guests must bring their own skis, AGVs, snowmobiles and snowshoes.
