A braai/ BBQ /outdoor dining area is protected by the forest canopy, and lies adjacent a sunny swimming pool. After a swim or surf at nearby Long Beach, rinse off in a recessed, hot outdoor shower. In the garage, enjoy use of kayak and surfboards. This house is the perfect spot to chill, but also to engage with activities in nature, with ocean and mountain all close by. You are literally ensconced in nature, with the tiled braai and patio area marked by twisted boughs and shaded by the canopy. While ancient trees stand sentinel over the house, inside boasts a 100mb/s optical fibre Internet, full suite of streaming platforms on a large flat screen smart TV, and a full solar installation that tides you through any power failure. An open plan kitchen and dining area looks out onto a deck to the braai / barbeque and pool area via wall-to-wall sliding doors that open up all the way to create lots of space. At night, the tiled outdoor braai area is magical beneath the Milkwood forest canopy, softly lit by weather-proof LED string lights. During the day, the house is filled with light from strips of windows beneath the eaves and more sliding doors that overlook the front area, where Clivias bloom beneath the milkwoods, with a wetland and presided over by Slangkop koppie beyond. We have three bedrooms. The main room has two built-in cupboards for your use, a super king size double bed with soft duvet and down pillows and an en-suite bath and shower. This room overlooks the pool and breakfast area. The second biggest room, with two small double beds and built-in cupboards, is beautifully appointed with a huge T-shaped window framing the milkwoods outside. All windows have drop down blinds. The third bedroom has a double bed, and an antique desk. There is a kayak and life jackets to use when the ocean is flat, and bodyboard and surfboards (on request) to use when there are waves. You're welcome to use our herbs and chillies growing in pots by the pool. There are numerous hikes from the house over Slangkop mountain, great bike rides, and many tourist attractions not far away. One of the great things about Kommetjie is that its centrally located between the Cape Point nature reserve and Cape Town. We are a five minute walk from the main Kommetjie village, where you will find a plethora of quaint restaurants, coffee shops, a surf shop, bottle store and delis. This house was made for holidays. Guest access There is parking for four cars in our driveway. You have access to our whole space, barring two built-in cupboards in the main bedroom and other cupboards in the garage where we store some of our stuff while renting out our house. However, there is more than enough cupboard space. Other things to note Our wifi is strong at 100mb/sec and the router is centrally located. The house is safe and secure, with four wooden gates on the sides, front and back of the house that operate with pin codes you will find in the operators' manual. Our alarm includes sensors around the building. We hire a local security firm, but have never had any incidents. Crime is extremely rare in Kommetjie. More details of appliances, including the 55" flat screen Samsung smart TV and multiple streaming services can be found in a detailed house manual in the lounge or online. Our solar installation comprises 8 x 545 watt JA solar panels, a 8kw Sunsynk inverter, 5.1kw ion lithium battery and computerised distribution that cuts power to non essential power hungry appliances, namely geysers and stove) so load shedding is non existent. Irrigation for our large garden is automated from a water tank fed via a submersible pump in our well. The swimming pool pump also operates automatically.
