Big Brook Forest Retreat - Green Suite

We are a new listing. Big Brook Forest Retreat (BBFR) is a large camp on 50 acres of woods. In the winter, our camp is ideal for snowmobilers, cross country skiers, snowshoers and guests who want to retreat to a peaceful environment. Only a few 100 yards away from the snowmobiling trail and close to Osceola’s XCski resorts. A comfortable camp, 2.5 miles from the main road. You will love seasonal activities: hiking, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, visiting regional festivals and fall foliage. The space BBFR’s surroundings include 2 miles of marked forest trails for walking, snowshoeing, and spotting birds. It was our primary residence for 23 years. Now it is our refuge and we want to share it with guests who appreciate being away from the hustle and bustle. Inside, our large camp is divided into private rooms and common areas. On the first floor, you will find a shared kitchen, dining room and living room with a cathedral ceiling and a wonderful wood stove. It also has a screened porch. The green suite is located on the first floor with a bedroom, living room, bathroom and kitchenette. BBFR provides a wifi connection and allows Zooming for guests who are coming to work and play. Outside, the house is surrounded by a meadow, shrubs, and trees. During the summer and fall seasons, you will be greeted by many birds, frogs, dragon flies and crickets. Comfy lounge chairs will welcome you on our screened porch during the day. In the evening, nothing beats the magic of an outdoor fire pit, listening to the sounds of the woods at night and looking at the sky on a starry night. In the winter, after a long day on the trail, you can look forward to getting inside a cozy warm house and to chill by the wood stove. Guest access BBFR is on a seasonal dirt road. It is accessible by car in late spring, summer and fall. The town maintains the road every year. Some stretches will be in great conditions while others will have some pot holes. This is a take-it-easy, smell-the-fresh air, do-not-rush country road. We have driven on this road for years with regular 2 wheel powered cars, so your 4 wheel drive with high clearance will do without any problem. In the winter, we have property at the end of the road where you can park when you can’t get in by car or along Houlahan Road on the left side when coming in. Cross country skiers can be picked up at the beginning of Houlahan Rd with our snowmobile and snow coach. There will be room for 2 people with skis on their lap and weekend luggage can go on the snowmobile. During your stay We will be at BBFR during your get away to provide for your comfort and assist you if you have any questions. We may be away at times during the day on the property or elsewhere.
