This uniquely designed property continues to be a source of inspiration for those that stay for vacations and retreats, as well as the artists that participate in the spring residency program, of which a selection of artwork can be found hanging in the house for all guests to enjoy! Just 20 minutes to Joshua Tree National Park and centrally located for all the major High Desert attractions, the property has been originally and authentically designed and curated over many years by the owner who is an architect, and consists of a series of indoor and outdoor spaces to reconnect, relax, socialize, cook and work in as follows: (See floor plan in photos for layout). • FAMILY/DINING ROOM: Mountain views, large reclaimed wood dining table comfortably seating 8, corner sofa, record player, access to stargazing/yoga deck, BBQ, Fire Pit and Hot Tub. • KITCHEN: Well appointed with everything you will need to prep and cook including generous island to gather at, stove with air-fryer oven, coffee grinder, french press, tea kettle, toaster, blender, dishwasher, microwave, pastry board etc. Olive oil and condiments, Mrs Meyers eco hand and dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent. • DEN: Cozy nook with 2 corner daybeds, wood burning stove for chilly evenings, telescope (instructions in house manual), adjacent to hallway with washer/dryer closet for guests use. • STUDY: Dedicated room with a large desk, board games, books, daybed and sunset view. • BEDROOMS: Each bedroom has a queen sized bed and one has a soft mattress while the other has a firm mattress to accommodate different preferences. 100% linen sheets, hanging and shelving space. • BATHROOM: Bathtub w/ shower. Waffle cotton towels, Everyone body wash/bubble bath/shampoo. Outdoor cool water shower at side of house for hot summer months. • EXTERIOR: Front porch to sit and watch sunset, large stargazing and yoga deck to side of house with cactus and rock gardens, yoga mats, hot tub for 4-6 under the stars. Expanded horizon sunrise and sunset views filled with Joshua Trees. Sun-shaded dining area seating 8, Weber Performer Deluxe charcoal BBQ grill, cool water cowboy tub for hot days (summer season May-Oct), fire pit for chilly evenings, 2.5 acre perimeter fenced property filled with wildlife and nature and surrounded by open desert Bureau Land Management. • ART GALLERY: Private access to art exhibition, kitchenette and 1/2 bathroom. The current show is ROCKSCAPES May 2025 - Spring 2026. The gallery will be closed to the general public during your stay but guests will have access to it. A percentage of sales of from exhibitions go to the Mojave Desert Land Trust to support protection and conservation for our beautiful desert ecosystem @mojavedesertlandtrust. @theocotillojoshuatree - exhibitions for more info. Guest access Guests will have access to 2.5 fenced acres, 1500 sq ft house, 300 sq ft art gallery with half bathroom in the adjacent building, and miles of hiking in unspoiled desert landscape that surrounds the property. The current art exhibition is ROCKSCAPES and will run from May 2025 - Spring 2026. There is also a workshop on the property that will not be accessible to guests. Other things to note The Ocotillo is a remote property accessed down a mile long dirt road. Due to the location it is very important to follow the host maps provided in your welcome email. Although not essential an AWD/4WD is preferred for those not comfortable with driving on dirt roads. Note that to conserve water in the dry desert environment, the cowboy tub pool is operational only during the hot months, May through October. The hot tub is operational all year round. The Ocotillo is a Certified Humane property meaning that no rodenticides or pesticides are used on site and all cleaning products are biodegradable. The property is powered by solar and recycles grey water for some of the trees. Art shows typically run from May to January. Please make sure to visit the gallery on your visit if you are there during that time.
