This very lovely tiny home is a new addition to our place – more space, more comfort, and the same great experience! Pikowai is a beautiful expanse of beach, where you can go for a stroll or do some surf casting. Centered in the middle of the Bay, take a day-trip to Whakatane, Rotorua or Mt Maunganui. The space Our upgraded Pikowai (Re)treat is a contemporary, spacious tiny home offering self-contained accommodation and expansive sea views. It features a full kitchen with everything you need to self-cater, including a gas oven, hobbs, and a full fridge/freezer. The lounge offers a comfy couch, a fold-away dining table for flexibility, and a data projector that connects to your HDMI laptop port for a cozy movie night. Your own separate bedroom includes a luxurious Queen-size bed with a memory foam mattress for a restful night’s sleep, where you will wake up to stunning ocean views right outside the window. Tucked alongside the bedroom is a roomy bathroom with a shower over the small bathtub (shub) and a washing machine. Our rural setting is quiet and relaxing. Open the double doors wide and soak in the sun while enjoying the faint sound of ocean waves, tui birds in the expansive pohutukawa trees, and the occasional sheep or cow across the paddocks. The sparkling Pacific Ocean view can be seen beyond our flourishing organic vegetable garden, and we encourage you to enjoy its delicious produce. On the other side of the home, we have a small orchard and a few chickens – we’ll welcome you with fresh eggs and seasonal fruit. Come here to enjoy complete tranquility and avoid the summer crowds, or use us as a base to explore the Bay of Plenty. We’re less than an hour's drive to tourist hotspots like Mt Maunganui and Rotorua, and just 20 minutes to Whakatane – the middle of nowhere, but also the middle of everywhere. #Paradise. As a summer bonus, you can cool off in our swimming pool! (Sorry unavailable at the moment due to recent storm damage). Guest access We are up a long shared driveway on top of a hill and have plenty of parking. You're welcome to park in our carport to plug in an EV overnight or park on the grass close to the unit depending on your preference. Access to Pikowai beach is easy: directly opposite us is a popular day park and overnight camping ground: a 1min drive down the hill or a leisurely 5min walk. Matata, which offers a dairy, fish n chips, pub and bottle stores as well as Drift, a popular coffee and food hub, is only a 5min drive down the road. Heading towards Whakatane, we have three yummy berry farms where you can buy fresh berries or delicious berry ice-creams! A fav on hot summer days. Another highlight for our family is exploring the Rotorua lakes and forests - kayaking/paddle boarding on a lake, hiking, mountain biking ... all fantastic options for day trips.
