Description

Historic cottage right on the Shore Road in the old fishing village of Bosham. The sea comes right up to the house. Stunning sea views from every room (except the bathroom). Walking distance to the village pub & sailing club. Lovely scenic walks. Great place for cycling. Bosham ferry connects Itchenor village with cycling path to West Wittering's wonderful sandy beach. The cottage is bright and sunny, with lots of living space including a wood burning stove & Aga Self-catering 7 nights + The space This is a very old fisherman's cottage so please don't expect every mod con! Character exudes from every beam... Farmhouse kitchen with Aga, microwave, gas hob, washing machine & dishwasher. Sitting room, dining room, study. Seaview from every room! The cottage faces across the creek towards the Trippett and the Anchor Bleu pub (see first sunset photo). Sleeps 6 in 3 double bedrooms (2 doubles, 1 twin). I bathroom with metal bath, Wc, washbasin. Central heating and a wood burning stove. Parking for smallish car up sloping driveway above the Shore Road Sunny, secluded walled garden behind the house. Terrace with view of the water/mud for sundowners in front of the house. The bench looks over the creak towards Bosham church and the quay. Outdoor loo in garden privy. Guest access Guests have access to the whole house and garden apart from one small north facing room in which I store some of my things to give you room in the bedroom cupboards. The garage is not for the use of guests I am afraid, however I can make room for your bikes in there. Bikes will certainly be useful to cycle up to the village Co-op which stays open until late. You can also cycle to the Anchor Bleu pub which is just across the creak from the cottage. The ferry to Itchenor goes from the corner of Smugglers Lane with Lower Hone Lane. This is out of the actual village, about 10-15 mins bike ride. You can even pay to take your bike with you on the ferry to Itchenor and then cycle on the Salterns way to West Wittering. Guests need to keep an eye on the tide-table as the Shore Road floods twice daily. It is important to park your car either up the raised ramp of the driveway of the cottage or at the end of the road in Stumps Lane. At Spring tides the road outside the house will flood for 1-2 hours at high water. On the other side of the creak (the side where the church, pub and sailing club are) the road floods for 1-2 hours at EVERY TIDE...not just SPRING TIDES! Other things to note The back garden is walled. Lock on back gate not functioning at the moment. There is a rear access to the garden from a footpath- useful when tide is across the road at the front. NB. The front terrace is quite small but faces the harbour. Great for sundowners as it faces west. However it is raised above the Shore Road and not protected for young children or dogs who might want to jump out. The sea wall round the front of the house is 1.3 metres high.
