An Isolated back country New Zealand experience. No power, no heating, a sunny spot, amazing views. At Welcome Rock. Walk/mountain bike to the hut, park at the Historic Ski Hut, Nevis Rd, Garston. From the Ski Hut walk/bike 2kms (50 mins walk). Map in the photo gallery for location. Allow enough day light. Bring torches, sleeping bags, pillows, warm clothing weather is very changeable at 1,000m, plenty of food. Water, gas cooker, outdoor bath provided. Upgrade package available on request. The space A private hut to yourself with amazing views down the valley. The hut is west facing for great sunsets. This Hut is a private room guests do not share with other guests. If you book it is exclusive to you only. Homely Hut Package is available upon request ($495.00pp) which includes food, linen and towels - please advise if you want to book this option. To access the hut guests need to drive up a gravel road for 8kms (30 minutes), park at the ski hut and then walk 2kms (40 minutes) or bike (20 minutes). During the summer months a 2WD vehicle is fine on the gravel road (4WD not required from Oct - end of March). Guest access Access to Welcome Rock Trails. Other things to note Be prepared for all seasons in one day the weather in the high country is unpredictable. Bring lots of clothing and lots of food, sleeping bags and pillows, lighting (torches). No power. Limited cell phone coverage. Bath has to be heated by guests using a gas califont.
