Description

Through woodland to a magical 16th-century organic farmstead, tucked away yet only 3 miles from Hay-on-Wye’s brilliant coffee shops and eateries. Set on Little Mountain Common at the foothills of the Black Mountains (Brecon Beacons), with dark skies and miles of walking from the door. A perfect dog-friendly escape for adult breaks and adventure seekers. Occasional wild feasts in the barn (when farm life allows) The space The Carthouse The Carthouse is a spacious, recently refurbished cottage with its own private feel, tucked away backing onto the glamping meadow. It’s perfect for a relaxed countryside break, with plenty of space to spread out and a lovely outdoor area at the back with comfy seating for morning coffees or an evening drink. Upstairs Two bedrooms sit opposite each other across the hallway, with a large shared bathroom in between. Main bedroom: double bed Second bedroom: twin beds Downstairs A big open-plan kitchen / diner / lounge, ideal for easy nights in. There’s a wood burner, flat screen TV with Netflix, and high-speed free WiFi throughout. Extras If you would like a tour of the farm, let us know and you can tag along when we feed the animals Use of our campfire areas. Juts buy wood and bring along marshmallows Occasional wild feasts in the barn (when farm life allows!) Ask about a 3rd person Dogs welcome (additional charge) Contact owner to book your dog in Guest access You’ll have private use of the cottage, with your own entrance, outdoor space and parking. You’re welcome to explore the surrounding woodland tracks and walking routes from the doorstep, and enjoy the peace and dark skies on Little Mountain Common As this is a working organic farm, some areas are farm-only (for your safety and the animals’). Please don’t enter animal paddocks, barns or working areas unless invited. If you’d like to meet the animals, just ask — we can often arrange a guided farm visit at a suitable time during your stay. Other things to note We’re always happy to share local knowledge — from the best places to eat and drink, to great days out and hidden gems. We can also recommend plenty of local walks, whether you fancy a gentle wander or a full-on hill day. Just ask during your stay.
