Description

Part of a Steading (barn) sympathetically converted in 2006, overlooking woods and fields from its own enclosed garden. The cottage is ideaI for exploring the Scottish Borders and Northumberland. One hour by car from Edinburgh, 35 mins from Lindisfarne and 45 mins from Bamburgh. If you'd like to leave the car at home and cycle to us it is 13 miles from the station at Berwick-upon-Tweed. Tucked away down a small lane, you can walk or cycle from the door or simply sit and watch the wildlife. The space This pretty cottage has an enclosed private garden. A well-equipped kitchen leads into a large dining room/lounge, opening on to the garden with patio, outdoor furniture and BBQ. Two bedrooms upstairs offer one kingsize double, with views across the fields and one twin room (which can be also be made into a super king size double). There is a bathroom upstairs and a shower room downstairs. Guest access The cottage is connected to the remainder of the steading where the owners live, and the parking is shared. From the gate you can walk or cycle along numerous paths and quiet lanes. For the adventurous there are many cycle routes across the Borders, as well as sea swimming and mountain biking within a 30-minute drive. The nearby town of Duns (10 minute drive) offers a good selection of amenities (supermarket, shops, take aways, restaurants, library, public swimming pool, health centre etc). There are several good pubs in the area, the closest is the Wheatsheaf Inn at Swinton, a 20 minute walk across fields or a 5 minute drive. Other things to note The cottage is nestled in a small hamlet of four houses at Langbank and we offer a warm welcome to those who'd like to come and share a bit of rural tranquility. The cottage is well stocked with books, jigsaws, board games and spaces to read and write.
