In Jamaica, Irie (Eye-Ree) means, "It's all good, mon!", so welcome to Irie Escape; our soothing, tranquil retreat on Lake Cumberland, Kentucky (LCK)! As you approach our home, you will notice huge, mature trees and spacious land to allow for plenty of outdoor games, grilling, and relaxation from our cozy hammock. If you like quiet, that is the first thing you will notice when arriving. You may hear a faint train in the background, but the overall sense is one of calm & peace! The space Upon entering your getaway, the sun from the entryway skylights will beam down, warming you as you catch a glimpse of the lake through the large kitchen windows. Our kitchen is fully equipped, and even includes a waffle maker, electric griddle, blender, and food processor. If you prefer to do your cooking outside, there is a large Cuisinart grill with a custom griddle pan that makes awesome smash-burgers. We also have a nice Weber charcoal grill in case you prefer to cook with charcoal. As you walk through the kitchen and by the hand-built six-person dining table, you are adjacent to a large, modern-rustic family room featuring luscious leather furnishings along with a big-screen TV and stereo. The stereo is hooked to Alexa and has Amazon Music Unlimited, so you can play your favorite tunes while cooking or playing games. The TV is a smart TV, so you can play shows from Netflix or whatever platform you prefer. Be sure to remember your passwords! Samsung TV also has a variety of free movies and TV shows to choose from. There is also a wood-burning stove in this room. It is set up to burn wood pellets and provides a blast of warmth on a chilly night. Behind the family room is a sunroom featuring windows that open and allow you to enjoy the refreshing breeze while taking in the beautiful seasonal lake view. Two built-in circular fans move even more air on those evenings where you don't want to be outside, but you want to feel the fresh air. There is also enough seating for six to dine at the patio table or to sit and chat in one of the two rocking chairs or La-Z Boy leather recliners. In addition to these main spaces, Irie Escape features a huge master bath with a freestanding soaking tub and bath bombs for you to enjoy after a long day on the lake or hiking. There is also a walk-in shower with dual shower heads. There is a second full bath at the main entry that has a hand-made vanity with a tub/shower and dual shower heads. Our home is artfully finished with rustic wood and trim. Much of the wood was utilized from a 150-year-old barn by the previous owner of the home who performed the renovations. Some of the furniture, such as the dining room table and hutch in the living room are hand-made. The outside of the home features a deck with a dining table for six, in addition to a two-seat bistro set. In front of the deck, there is a portable fire ring and there are camp chairs in the garage for you to enjoy s'mores by the lake. There is also a large fire pit near the woods if you would like to enjoy a more camp-like experience. If you enjoy friendly competition, the garage holds a cornhole set, ladder golf, horseshoes, and giant Yahtzee for your gaming entertainment. There are also racquets for badminton and pickle ball, along with a portable net. There are court lines painted on the driveway for a near-regulation sized pickle ball experience. The garage is also home to the Cuisinart gas grill and Weber charcoal grill for your choice of outdoor cooling methods. There is also a six-person dining table in the garage in case it is raining but you still want to be close to outdoors. For a good night's rest, there are three bedrooms to choose from. All three bedrooms have USB charging stations, TVs with ROKU sticks (so bring the passwords to your favorite apps). ROKU also offers free movies and TV shows. The bedrooms: One Love: This is the Master bedroom with a king-sized bed and dresser. Caribbean Queen: A queen bed with dresser make up Caribbean Queen. Three Little Birds: This is a fun little room with a full bunk bed on the bottom and twin bed on the top. Air Mattress: While we suggest six guests for the home, there is a queen-sized air mattress that you can put in the living room if you would like to accommodate seven or eight guests. For those of you with boats or who want locked parking, there is a boat barn adjacent to the home. The bay on the left is available if you want to park your boat inside. Our neighbor stores his boats in the other two bays. This barn has its own security camera, as does the front and back of the home. PLEASE MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITH US AHEAD OF TIME IF YOU WOULD LIKE ACCESS TO THE BARN. Note that while our home has a view of the lake, there is no access to the lake. We are near a bluff with a steep drop-off down to the lake. A stay here would NOT be suitable for young kids who will be unsupervised near the edge. The lake view in the winter when the leaves are down is awesome. When everything blooms in the summer, it is still awesome from parts of the porch, but some other areas are harder to see through. It depends on how much the trees bloom in the summer. If you do get stuck inside one day, Spectrum high-speed internet is faster here than what we get living in Cincinnati! This is an amazing lake home, and since we can't use it very often, we want to open it for others to enjoy and experience. Please come and enjoy our home like it is your own! Note: To get to many of the lakefront homes in this part of the country, you might have to drive by some very rural areas with homes of all types in different types of conditions. This is an area where you might have an abandoned house next to a big farm, next to a ranch-style house next to a rusty trailer with scrap metal. Although the nearby streets have all of these different types of residences, everyone is respectful.
