Picture yourself relaxing and enjoying the countryside and quiet woods around you in this unique and tranquil getaway in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom! This is a private log and timber frame cabin on our conserved tree farm, nestled in the woods along a woodland stream. Close to Burke Mountain and the Kingdom Trails, and the Great North Woods of NH. On a Brew Tour? We are centrally located near World Class breweries, with a list is in the Cabin. We welcome you to unpack and unwind! The space The cabin is on our nearly 400 acre tree farm under conservation easement with the Vermont Land Trust. Its private and secure location will give you a sense of being in your own forest home and the elevation on the back deck gives the feeling of a treehouse! The location on Route 2 in Saint Johnsbury Vermont allows easy driving to the best Northeast Kingdom of Vermont and the Northern New Hampshire area offers and highlights and interesting places to visit are with the cabin manual! The barn you’ll pass on the way to the cabin has been converted into our home both places are on grid tied solar power from the tracking solar array you’ll see in the field. Both places are also on emergency generator power if that becomes necessary, though it rarely is needed. The cabin is newly renovated and freshly furnished! It has a full kitchen and table for four, a living room with two Lazy Boy chairs and a long, wide couch to stretch out on. The bathroom is on the main floor, accessed through the curtained French doors you'll see in the pictures. The bedroom space is in the loft and there is a King size bed, dresser, and good lighting for reading on both sides of the bed! There is a trundle daybed for relaxing and reading or it can be made into one or two twin beds if needed. You'll find large front and back porch areas to enjoy and a grill and a fire ring to use if wanted! Guest access We invite you to enjoy being on our farmstead and are happy to point out trails and unique areas for you to explore. You can walk in open fields and on wooded trails and part of our passion in living here is to create trails to be enjoyed. You’ll see we purposely leave much of the farm in its natural state to allow the wildlife and birds to find good habitat and sanctuary. We love to share what is in the woods and fields with our guests! Other things to note One of the unique parts of the cabin are the stairs to the loft. Originally there was a small circular staircase, hard to go up and down and nearly impossible to carry anything! The new stairs are what are called Jefferson Stairs or Alternating Tread stairs and allow for a normal rise for each step. They are for use in small spaces for stairs that are comfortable but take less space out of the room. When you look at the pictures you see that they work by having each foot have its ‘own side’ to step up or down. Please take the time to familiarize yourself and become comfortable with them. There is a light on the stairs to illuminate the treads and it should always be used for nighttime safety. It can be turned on and off both from the ground floor and from the top of the staircase in the loft. If you are traveling with children, we do provide a baby gate for stair safety.
