No river or mountain view directly from house. The space We’re delighted to open the doors of our vacation home called Mitzi, to our Airbnb friends. When we found Mitzi, we were looking for a comfortable, welcoming home where we could relax with family and friends. We wanted enough space for at least four adults (two bedrooms) and a generous outdoor area in a safe, quiet neighborhood. We didn’t originally plan to list Mitzi on Airbnb—so while she isn’t luxurious, doesn’t have a pool or jacuzzi, and offers no mountain or river view, she does have charm and the necessities to live in comfort. Built in the late 1890s, Mitzi has an updated floor plan that feels open and airy. Instead of a series of small rooms, the downstairs features partial walls between the dining area, sunroom, and kitchen. With two bedrooms upstairs, the house feels cozy but never cramped. Mitzi isn’t perfect—but then again, who is? Her biggest flaw is her staircase to the second floor, which is steep and high. (We consulted both contractors and an architect—there’s just no safe way to change it.) For accessibility, the home can work for guests who can manage a few small steps: one to enter, one to reach the bathroom, and another into the kitchen. All are clearly marked, and the bathroom, kitchen, and sleeping area are available on the first floor. Mitzi is on the western edge of Cornwall-on-Hudson—close to West Point, Storm King Art Center, Woodbury Common Outlet Mall, and a variety of restaurants and shops. A library, park, and community pool are just a block or two away, and downtown is within walking distance. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re always happy to help. INFANTS/CHILDREN We have a large backyard, games, a chest of drawers filled with art supplies, a chalkboard with colored chalk, puzzles, books, a lawn sprinkler hanging in the laundry room and a pool within walking distance. We have tried to gate the stairs from the bottom to no avail. SWIMMING POOL: Not available summer of 2025 so it might be really nice in the summer of 2026. GOING TO NEW YORK: There is a train that goes from Beacon, the next town across the bridge, to Grand Central Station. Park your car at the train station and take the train. Trust me. Guest access This is a private residence with a fence. You have access to the entire house with the exception of the locked basement. Other things to note 1. There are a few discrepancies in the pictures, but we consider everything we did an improvement. For example, we have a "new" dining room table, we rearranged some pictures, etc. 2. Given my aesthetic, I obviously wanted to own some of the vintage items in the house. Alas, it is time for me to give others the opportunity to own them, especially since this is only a small part of my treasures. Let me know if you are interested in buying something displayed OR if you collect/want something you might not see. 3. Finally. it upsets us to find broken glass in the house or yard. This is all about SAFETY. Glass is hard to see, glass shards fly everywhere. We don't want our guests to step on glass or the kids/babies to get hurt. We are not going to charge you for breaking any of the glasses in the cabinet.
