Guest access El Molí de Dalt is a rural farmhouse built in the mid-nineteenth century, which served as both a hydraulic flour mill and a bread oven. El Molí de Dalt has a usable area of about 420m² distributed over 2 floors and a spacious roof terrace. As it is an old farmhouse, its walls are thick, which gives it great thermal stability (the inside of the house is cool in summer and warm in winter). The interior decor is rustic and warm. Despite the large size of the house, the wood finishes and the abundant outdoor light make the Molí de Dalt a cozy house and ideal to enjoy as a family. The Molí de Dalt has several different common spaces that are perfectly equipped to be enjoyed by guests: -The roof terrace is a large open space with wooden floor and large exterior windows on both sides. This room, ideal for relaxing and having fun with the family, is conceived as a recreational space. The rooftop is presided over by a carom billiard, it also has a small foosball table, a study area with a tower computer as well as several places to sit and relax. -The first floor living room gives access to 3 guest rooms. In the central part there is a sofa and a TV, where if you want, you can play a video game console. The living room also has an exit to the wooden balcony that presides over the facade of the house and from which you have fantastic views of the porch and the pine forests adjacent to the house. -The kitchen is located on the first floor and is equipped with all the necessary utensils and basic appliances (stove, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave). In the kitchen there is a large extendable table that seats 12 people, ideal for dinner if you do not want to go out on the porch. The old wood oven where the bread was baked is preserved on the back wall of the kitchen. Although it no longer works, its condition is very good and it is worth opening it and taking a look at the large vault made of clay bricks where the dough was cooked. -The room that corresponded to the old flour mill is located next to the kitchen. This large room is presided over by a warm fireplace surrounded by a sofa and several armchairs, it is an ideal corner to gather around the fire on winter nights. The rest of the room corresponds to the museum space and retains the original shape of the flour mill. In this space you can see the wooden structures that still house the grinding stones inside. It was here that the wheat was thrown away and then collected and turned into flour. On the ceiling of the room there are several transmission shafts and wooden wheels that were used to optimize hydraulic power and operate other machines exposed in the same space. Among these old machines are the "pastera", which was used to knead and the "granera", whose purpose was to separate the wheat grain before grinding it. The walls of the room are decorated with wooden panels where you can see the old tools used to operate the mill. If the visitor is observant, he will see that there is a trap door on the floor of the room. This trapdoor gives access to a small underground room where the turbines that, pushed by the water, were responsible for moving the machinery of the mill (currently this space is pending restoration). Other things to note The Molí de Dalt is located in the Vall Lord (municipality of La Coma i la Pedra), very close to the source of the Cardener River. The house borders the Serra del Verd to the north and east, the Port del Comte massif to the west, and the towns of La Coma, Sant Llorenç de Morunys, the Llosa del Cavall swamp, and the Serra de Busa to the south. The house's privileged location offers visitors a wide variety of leisure alternatives in the surroundings of Molí de Dalt. If you like nature and sports, in the vicinity of Molí de Dalt, you can enjoy a wide range of recreational and sports activities in the natural environment. Here are some of them: Hiking: You just need to take a walking stick, put on some good boots and a few meters from the house you can already take several trails to make excursions that can be very varied. Just ask the host and they will advise you on the itineraries that best suit what you are looking for. On these outings you can observe the rich flora and fauna characteristic of the region. If you are lucky, you can often see chamois, roe deer, birds of prey (eagles, vultures, bearded vultures...) and hear the pecking of woodpeckers. Linked to hiking, special mention should be made of mushroom picking in autumn. The pine forests surrounding the Molí de Dalt are filled in autumn with mushrooms, some of which are highly appreciated gastronomically. In the Vall de Lord the most sought after are the níscalos / "rovellons", but you can also find "Camagrocs", "Ceps", "Moixernons", "Llanegues", "Fredolics" ... If you are fond of mycology and you like to go mushroom picking, do not hesitate to come to the Molí de Dalt! Mountain bike routes: Vall de Lord is an increasingly popular destination for mountain bikers, as the beauty of the natural landscape is complemented by the many signposted routes in the area. From Molí de Dalt, you will be advised on which route best suits your physical and technical characteristics. Kayak and canoe: In the Llosa del Cavall swamp you can rent different types of boats to enjoy a different excursion and spectacular views of the Sierra de Busa. Mountaineering: If you like to conquer peaks, you can do it without having to take the car. Leaving the Molí de dalt on foot, you can climb to the highest peaks of the Serra del Port del Compte and the Serra del Verd. It should be said that they are hard excursions, with accumulated slopes of about 1500m. If, on the other hand, you want to climb other peaks, there is the possibility of traveling by car to the Cadí Moixeró natural park or to the beautiful town of Gósol from where you can climb the Pedraforca. Skiing and winter sports: The alpine ski resorts of Port del Compte and Nordic ski resorts of Tuixent la Vansa, located about 14 km from Molí de Dalt (20 minutes by car), allow visitors to enjoy these sports. Snowshoe excursions and sled rides can be the perfect complement to a great winter weekend at Molí de Dalt. In the Vall de Lord and its surroundings you can also do other sports activities such as paragliding, caving, canyoning, climbing... If you are interested in any of these activities, do not hesitate to ask the host of the house! If, on the other hand, you prefer to make visits and cultural activities, the offer of the Vall de Lord and its surroundings is wide and varied. Visits to villages such as La Coma, La Pedra and Sant Llorenç de Morunys are ideal for enjoying a quiet afternoon. It should be noted that in Sant Llorenç there is a small museum where the history of the town is explained. Apart from the rural centers, throughout the Vall de Lord there are many small Romanesque hermitages worth visiting. On the other hand, the sanctuary of the Mare de Déu de Lord and its incredible views are a must-see. If you decide to go a little further, I would recommend visiting the villages of the Cadí skirt such as Tuixent, Josa de Cadí, Ossera, Gósol… These small rural villages have great charm and in many you eat well and you can buy typical local artisan products (cheese, herbs…). In Tuixent you can also visit a museum where the life of the now extinct "Trementinaires" (transhumant healers of the Pyrenees) is explained. If you have any questions or need advice on what cultural activities to do, at Molí de Dalt we will be happy to advise you and help you as much as possible.
