Some of the activities that we encourage are: • Trekking • Cycling • Camping Bhalu Gaad Waterfalls It is a quaint cascading waterfall in Nainital situated close to the township of Mukteshwar. It is also known as a bear stream because of the abundant bear population in the region. The fall switches between a horseshoe waterfall and a plunge style waterfall depending on the flow of water. Tourist and wildlife lovers often come over to the peak to relish bear sightings. You can spot a wide range of bears and photograph them with your wide-angle lenses. If you are not fascinated by bears, you can rather spend time sitting on the rocks and listening to the sounds of the gushing waters. The beauty of Sitla A hill station at 6000 ft high, Sitla is famous for its colonial style bungalows. Sitla has rather panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks — Panchachuli, Trishul and Nanda Devi and is full of dense forests and verdant orchards, making it a wonderful sightseeing opportunity to tourists. Location: The ride to Sitla in taxis is of somewhere around 2 hours from Kathgodam, the nearest railway station Chauli ki Jali Chauli ki Jali or also known as Chauthi Jali is one of the famous tourist places in Mukteshwar, behind the Mukteshwar Temple. Chauli ki Jali is bliss for nature lovers and anyone who seeks adventure. Tourists find it good for sightseeing, rock climbing, and rappelling experiences, with an amazing view of Himalayan ranges from the edge of the place. This place also holds great religious value to the Hindus as it is believed that a great battle was fought on this site between the goddess and a demon. Location: Chauli ki Jali is 1.5 km from the main market in Mukteshwar and 250 m from the Mukteshwar Temple itself. Bhalu Gaad Waterfalls Bhalu Gaad Waterfalls is a newly discovered tourist place in Mukteshwar. Being a new place to visit in Mukteshwar, the falls are less touristy and hence cleaner than other falls around the state. It is a 60 ft high waterfall with an undiscovered source and takes a mixed shape of a horseshoe while plunging at the end. The waterfall is said to have a continuous flow of water throughout the year and therefore can be visited in any season. The place is a beautiful sight and a paradise for bird lovers as well. Anyone who loves a hike and enjoys nature's beauty will find it enthralling to visit this place. At the bottom of the waterfall emerges a rainbow, therefore giving it the name Rainbow falls amongst the locals. Location: The waterfall is at a distance of 10 km from the main town of Mukteshwar. One has to park their vehicle at Dhari, a place 2 km away from the waterfall. The 2 km trek is a scenic walk with ascents and descents throughout. Fees: The best time to visit the waterfall is between the sunrise and the sunset. Although the entry to the waterfall itself is free, one can hire a guide for the trek in a minimal fee of 200/-. Mukteshwar Temple The town gets its name from this Lord Shiva Temple which his 5500 years old and, is one of the most ancient places to visit in Mukteshwar. The temple has an amazing landscape view and an even better tale about its history. It is said that the temple was built by the Pandavas during the 12 years of their exile life. The temple top is reached by finishing a scenic and peaceful trek, with beautiful deodar and pine trees on the sides. Or you can also choose to climb 90 steps, whichever path suits you the best. Location: The temple is 1.5 km from the main market and near to Chauli ki Jali, which is another one of the important tourist places in Mukteshwar. Entry fees: The entry to the temple is free. Indian Veterinary Research Institute The place was established in 1893 and is credited for significant development of Veterinary science in India. Ramgarh A small town; Ramgarh is a tourist attraction for anyone who wants to spend leisure time around orchards.The town which was a cantonment during the British era is divided into two regions namely, upper and lower regions called Malla Ramgarh and Talla Ramgarh. The main orchard attractions of the town are of apple, apricot and peach, all of them found in abundance. The small town was home to renowned writers like Padma Vibhushan Mahadevi Verma, Narayan Swami, and Rabindranath Tagore. Nathuakhan A small solitary village located in the Kumaon hills of Mukteshwar, blessed with such a beauty of nature that captivates its visitors.
