Built in 1915, the classic Queenslander is beautifully appointed and features wide timber floorboards, high ceilings and an inviting front verandah shaded by an old Poinciana tree. If you love water sports, Somerset Dam is just 10 minutes away. You might be looking for a romantic getaway or are attending a wedding with friends, visiting family, or exploring the nearby Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. The space The 110-year-old Walkersdolff Cottage is classic vintage but still offers modern comforts. There is a well-equipped kitchen, a beautifully renovated bathroom, and spacious lounge with slow-combustion fireplace, TV and unlimited high speed internet. Despite its age, the cottage is a very comfortable accommodation option - perfect for a couple, a group of friends, or a family. You're within walking distance to shops and the local pub, there’s plenty of parking and you can even bring your boat to Walkersdolff Cottage. Step inside and you’ll appreciate the vintage touches of Walkersdolff Cottage, including the ornate chandelier in the entry hallway. The main bedroom is air-conditioned and features a queen bed, antique sitting chair, and, to add a little luxury, guests can relax in the plush bath robes before heading to the newly renovated bathroom to enjoy the complimentary pamper pack. The second bedroom also features a queen bed with matching ornate timber dresser and parlour chair. There are fans in all bedrooms and living areas. French doors lead to the sunroom/third sleeping area where there is a double bed making the house suitable for a family getaway or a group of friends. The sunroom is also a great play area for the kids, with bean bags, books and vintage games and toys. The kids can curl up together on the day bed. A pair of French provincial lounges and classic armchairs sit in the spacious lounge/living area. In cooler months, this is the perfect place to relax in front of the fireplace. Classic touches have been added throughout the cottage, including an antique writing bureau and an old school desk complete with colouring-in pads and pencils for the creative souls. You will find chess and other classic games for those who want to test their minds. In the evening, settle back and read about the history of Walkersdolff Cottage. Guests love the newly renovated bathroom and well-equipped cottage-style kitchen. A bath pamper pack with locally-made gift soap and bath salts is provided for guests, who can take a relaxing bath or enjoy a soothing shower. There's a perfect mix of old meets new - an antique vanity but a practical LED-lit mirrored shaving cabinet. Please note: The shower is over the bath. In the kitchen guests will find everything they need. There's a capsule coffee machine and pods, a selection of teas, sugar and milk, bottled water and picnic sets for guests to use. An antique red cedar washstand serves as a drinks cabinet, and also provides a special guest "surprise". Outside, you can enjoy a relaxing meal in the undercover area and at night, sit together around the firepit under the old Jacaranda tree. Out on the front deck, you can enjoy drinks with friends as you watch the local birdlife fly off for the evening. Just 10 minutes down the Esk-Kilcoy Road you come to Kirkleagh Recreation Area at Hazeldean, the main ski/boating area, and a little further along, the picturesque Spit at the dam wall, and the quaint Somerset Dam village. If you are bringing the boat or jetski, please ask us about off-street parking options. This is the perfect house for a ski weekend at Somerset Dam with friends and family. NOTE: The host expects guests to have positive reviews to book the cottage, as well as profile photo and where residing. Please leave the premises in a clean and tidy condition as found upon arrival.
