Welcome to White Point Cottage on the beautiful Potomac — 90 minutes from Washington, DC, but a world away. The renovated 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage sits on nearly an acre of south-facing waterfront property, affording a sense of privacy along with sunrise and sunset views. We’ve owned in the same neighborhood in St. Mary's County since 2005 and are eager to show guests why we love it here. More on IG @whitepointcottage, and be sure to visit our sister property, Water's Edge Cottage. The space The house is a recently renovated one-story bungalow, originally built in the 1940s. It has a spacious living room with television; a waterfront sun porch with a sitting area and dining table; two bedrooms, a primary that features a king bed, twin daybed (with curtains in between that can be drawn for privacy), a dresser, and large closet, and a small guest room with a queen bed but minimal storage. It features a fully-equipped kitchen (new appliances, including full size refrigerator, electric stove, microwave, and dishwasher), and a small (but charming!) bathroom with a glass enclosed shower. And there is a patio and a fire pit (with plenty of firewood) to enjoy the Potomac views. Please note that the cottage does not have a pier and there is no water access from the property, as there is rip rap (large rock) along the cottage's waterfront. Guest access The neighborhood is on rural street and you'll need a car to get around. The cottage has a gravel driveway that can accommodate two cars easily. Other things to note White Point Cottage is located in a critical environmental area right alongside the Potomac. Although the house has an upgraded septic system, it is not on a public water system. For city folk :), this means that you must be careful about what goes into the drain (there is no garbage disposal, for instance) as well as be mindful of water usage so as not to overwhelm the system. If you are looking for a spa bathroom experience with long showers, White Point Cottage is not the place for you.
