Description

European inspired manse house that has been lovingly restored and modernized for your comfort, experience and ultimate getaway. We are moments from the heart of Blue Mountain, the Niagara Escarpment, Bruce Trail, the Beaver River, the Scenic Caves, Eugenia Falls and many more hot spots. Your living space is the entire 'Manse' - a 1000 sqft newly renovated house attached to the historically designated building used for almost two centuries as a United Church. The space Instagram: @maxwellmanse Welcome to the Maxwell Manse. We are a lovingly restored Canadian historic landmark dedicated to preserving the space's rich heritage while adapting to the beauty of our modern day. It’s a truly unique experience to wake up to the sound of a passing horse and buggy in a place that has stood the test of time for almost two centuries. Originally the manse house was used as a stable throughout the 1800s and early 1900s for community members to park their horses before it was built into a space for gathering and for the minister to live in. The barn board walls, customized doors and shelves are made from wood salvaged from the spaces original stable dating back to the mid 1800s. The manse comes equipped with a full kitchen, including a six burner double oven gas stove, fridge and freezer, coffee maker, pots and pans, dishes, cutlery, a large roasting pan, and cooking utensils. The home is a one level open concept due to its previous structural purpose being a stable. The living room is attached to the kitchen and has a 72” mounted TV where guests can cozy up on a beautiful Argentinian leather and goose down filled sectional couch. There are two separate bedrooms, both with sliding barn board doors. One room has a queen sized bed and the other a king. Both rooms have open concept closets, mirrors and cubbies for personal belongings. The recently renovated bathroom has a shower, and also a small sized claw foot tub. The tub is original to the manse building and has been re-enamelled and restored for use. It is worth mentioning that the tub is quite small in size. Our outdoor space has a pergola covered patio with a love seat, swivel chair, lounger and ottoman to sit and enjoy the outdoors. Next to the pergola there is a privatized cedar deck featuring our wood fired cedar hot tub. We have a Muskoka fire pit with two benches and two chairs and a beautiful shaded rock garden area with a double Muskoka chair. New this season we have an additional patio area with two more loungers and partial fence to add some privacy while maintaining one of the most beautiful views from the property on looking the park and woods at the back. The house is newly insulated and heated with a newly installed propane furnace and water heater. The manse stays cooler than you might expect throughout the summer due to the building's inherent design and cooler climate being only ten minutes from southern Ontario's highest elevation point. Guest access The manse section of the property is what will be available for guests to enjoy. The church building itself is attached to the manse but cannot be accessed from the house. It is currently in need of the floors being restored so we ask that guests do not attempt to go exploring for safety purposes. We cannot wait to have the church building ready to rent out as well! The property is not fully privatized, although there is at least an acre between our neighbouring properties. We are located in a small town off of a municipal road that is frequented by many of the neighbouring Mennonite community members so light traffic can be expected during the day and it is also beside a large unused ball diamond park. The noise level is minimal but worth mentioning for the afternoon moments where you’re enjoying the sunshine on the patio.
