Private Cabana in The Flats, Kodiak, AK

Our studio style cabana in The Flats has all you need for your time in Kodiak. The 10 minute drive south from the airport is packed with ocean and mountain vistas, and our wooded lot is only steps from Russian Creek. The Cabana has its own parking area and entrance to the property, and shares our private, fenced, one-acre space with our family home and two big, furry, friendly dogs. With downtown Kodiak being just 15 minutes north, our cabana is a perfect base regardless of your adventure! The space A wall of windows and a row of windows along a high lofted ceiling, and French doors fill the main space with natural light. A classic wood stove and comfortable seating adds to the cozy appeal of our cabana. The cabana is best suited for a couple. A queen bed on frame with a nightstand and chest of drawers makes up the sleeping space. A full size futon can provide two more sleeping accommodations, but it is a futon. Otherwise it is a comfy spot to lounge in the sun as it shines through the French doors. A bathroom including a shower, washer/dryer, linens, and other amenities is sure to meet all your needs. Wether you plan on preparing your own meals, or just need morning coffee, the kitchen space is ready. Start your morning with fresh Kodiak roasted coffee, and prepare your dinner highlighting the day’s catch with the charcoal grill, a electric frying pan, hot plate, or microwave. A small refrigerator has space for a few meals, snacks and beverages, or other essentials including cooking and eating utensils, flatware, and drinkware. If you need freezer space to store your ice cream, your daily limit of salmon fillets, or the bounty from a successful hunt, just let us know, we’ve saved room. The kitchen space is rounded out with a table and chairs. Electric baseboard heaters provide passive heating, as the woodstove is supplemental. Seasoned wood and kindling is provided, so feel free to get a fire going and up the ambiance! Nothing beats the dry heat of a wood fired stove! The parking area is off a side street and fenced off from the main yard with a gate opening to the cabana’s path. The path leads to the door off of the cabana’s kitchen. There is no WiFi, but cell phone service is great. We have two very large dogs. They will happily greet you upon your arrival. Barking is their favorite, and while we know they are just excitedly saying, “hello!” we also realize it can be quite intimidating. If you are uncomfortable with dogs we can be sure to keep them inside for when you arrive, but know that they have access to the entire property surrounding the cabana, and will be roaming the property freely during your stay. Other things to note We have two very large dogs. They will happily greet you upon your arrival. If you are uncomfortable with dogs we can be sure to keep them inside for when you arrive, but know that they have access to the entire property surrounding the cabana and spend the better part of most days in the yard saying “hello” to the neighborhood!
