Description
Built in the late 18 th century High Millgillhead Cottage provides a relaxing, calm and cosy space . A charismatic period cottage which sits on the quieter North West Edge of the Lake District National Park. A short walk from Cogra Moss reservoir, 2 miles from Loweswater and only 4 miles from Ennerdale Water. Parking for two cars and storage for bikes, this is a great base to enjoy the magic Lakes and surrounding area. The lovely market town of Cockermouth is just a 13 minute drive away. The space The cottage retains many original features, including the old stone fireplaces in the dining room and sitting room and exposed beams in the main bedroom. The sitting room has a woodburning stove for colder nights and an Oled TV with Sky, Amazon and Netfilx. There is a beautiful cooks kitchen with solid oak worktops, Smeg fridgefreezer and Smeg range cooker, this then leads into the seperate dinning room. Upstairs is a large family bathroom, with bath and seperate shower. There are two spacious double bedrooms one with exposed beams. The main bedroom has a kingsized bed, the second bedroom has a superkingsized zip lock bed which can be serparated to make two single beds on request. All roooms look out over the large front garden and there is a small front porch where 2 people can sit and enjoy the sun. Finally there is a utility room downstairs off the dining room which houses a condensor dryer and clothes horse etc. Guest have full use of the front garden, there is a wooden garden table and benches out all year round and a further metal garden table can be put out weather permitting. There is also a Weber charcoal BBQ available this is stored in our garage and can be brought out as needed. You can walk straight from the house up to Cogra Moss and Blake Fell which has great views of Ennerdale Lake, Cogra Moss, Buttermer and Crummock Water. There is also great cylcing from the house, or if mountaing biking is more your thing, Whinlatter forest is just a 20 minute drive away. Here are just a few of the Cottages amenities. -Woodburning Stove (1 baskett of logs included) - Smart TV with Sky, Amazon and Netflix - Wifi - Books, board games and jigsaws - Hair dryers in each bedroom - 100% cotton white bed linen - Choice of medium or firm pillows - Egyptian cotton bath and hand towel for each gurst - Dishwaher - Fridgefreezer - iron and irnoning board - Condensor dryer - Weber BBQ on request Guest access Our cottage has its own dedicated parking space at the gable end of the cottage, but there is also space for another car next to the garage. Lamplugh is well situated for access to Cockermouth, Workington, and Whitehaven all only a 15 minute drive. It is also only 19 miles from Keswick, you can either take the A66 or drive via Loweswater to Lorton and Whinlater pass for a scenic drive. Other things to note The cottage has Rakegill Beck running along the garden boundary, therefore children under 5 must be supervised. I am pleased to say that our local pub in Lamplugh now called the Countryman has reopened after an extensive refurbishment. It serves good pub food and Pizzas and staff are very friendly. It is a 1 minute drive from the cottage or a 10 minute walk. The lovely Kirstile Inn near Loweswater Lke is only 4 miles from the cottage and is also highly recommended.
