Hazelnut Corner: a cosy hideaway near Petworth

Hazelnut Corner is a completely self-contained two bedroom annexe, attached to our home in Duncton, near Petworth. Situated on a quiet private road, bordered by woodland, and brilliantly placed for Petworth, Midhurst, Goodwood, walking on the South Downs, and the delights of Chichester and the South Coast. Compact and cosy, Hazelnut Corner offers one double bedroom, one single room, modern shower room, and an open plan kitchen, dining and living space. Outside is a small private patio area The space Hazelnut Corner was originally an outbuilding but was cleverly converted some years ago to be a compact two bedroom holiday home, with everything you need for a stay in West Sussex. It is attached to our house but completely self-contained. Arrive via your own private entrance, complete with keybox for late arrivals or early departures. The open plan living, dining and kitchen space has laminate wood flooring, two comfortable sofas, TV, and a dining table with ample space for four, and a neat kitchen complete with oven, hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine - and fully equipped with toaster, kettle and all the crockery and cutlery you could need for your stay. To your left there is a door to a small hallway, opening off which there is a cosy dual-aspect double bedroom with storage rail, small chest of drawers, double bed and beside tables, painted in a calming shade of grey, a modern shower room with walk-in shower (no bath), and a second small bedroom with a single bed, bedside table, and storage rail. Outside you have a small patio area with table and chairs, and a BBQ for warm evenings. We also own a small area of woodland adjacent to the cottage, which you are welcome to explore (staying within our boundary, please!). Enjoy the sounds of nature there, or sit quietly on the evening and you might well see a passing deer or badger. The space is heated in winter with electric radiators, and a woodburner - it is easy to light and get going, and make the space incredibly cosy in no time, so do make the most of it! Guest access Hazelnut Corner is on a private road that serves only four houses. You are welcome to drop off your luggage at the door, but please use the dedicated parking area further up the lane by the house (details in your arrival instructions). There is no parking outside since it obstructs our lovely neighbours driveway. From there door there are two pubs within walking distance - the Badgers, which is the closest (but requires walking a short section of road with no footpath), and the Cricketers, which can be reached via a lovely 30 minute stroll through the picturesque Burton Park Estate. There are numerous walks from the door; a selection are listed in the guest folder that can be found in the cottage. There are so many wonderful places to visit in and around the area, but it is very rural, and public transport isn't the best! So you will really need a car to make the most of our location. The nearest stations are at Pulborough (12 mins) and Haslemere (25 mins), serving London Victoria and London Waterloo respectively. Other things to note Both bedrooms are snug. It is possible to fit a small travel cot in either room, by removing the hanging rail (which folds easily). We have a cot that fits, but again if you need please get in touch. Please note that there is no bath, only a shower. There is an internal step up to the toilet, in the bathroom - only a problem for anyone with limited mobility.
