Cozy Cedar Cabin | River + Kayaks + Trails
Cozy Cedar Cabin | River + Kayaks + Trails
Description
Come for the little cabin in the woods. Stay for slow mornings on the porch, the smell of cedar, and evenings around the fire. Settle into a hammock and simply enjoy having nowhere else you need to be. When adventure calls, hike onsite trails or kayak the river. Or a quiet side of the Smokies is just 36 miles away, with waterfalls, trails, ziplines, whitewater rafting and many more gems nearby. Your place to slow down, venture out and come home to a place somewhere far from ordinary.... The space The Cedar Suncatcher feels like it grew right out of these woods—because, in a way, it did. Built with cedar harvested from the very land it sits on, this little cabin still carries the unmistakable scent of cedar inside. A queen bed sits surrounded by cedar walls and windows looking into the forest. As the sun moves through the trees, tiny ribbons of daylight filter between the boards, scattering streaks of sunshine across the cabin—and giving Cedar Suncatcher its name. It’s warm, inviting and filled with the character only something handmade can have. Cedar Suncatcher is simple, but you won’t be roughing it. Inside, you’ll have your own kitchenette with a two-burner camp stove, dishes and utensils, basic cooking supplies and a 48-qt cooler for food and drinks. We provide fresh linens and towels, too. Bring your food, clothes and a sense of adventure—we’ve handled the rest. Step outside and the experience continues. Your hot outdoor shower is tucked among the cedars, while the covered porch gives you a place for slow mornings, and listening to the rain on the tin roof. There’s a hammock for lazy afternoons, a firepit for slow evenings and a picnic table for meals beneath the trees. Wander a little farther and you’ll find hiking trails and river access right here on the property. Cedar Suncatcher is part of GlampVentures, our collection of 4 thoughtfully unique, adults-only stays where simple comforts, wild surroundings and a slower pace are all part of the experience. It’s simple in all the right ways—the kind of place that reminds you how good it feels to have nowhere to rush and nothing you need to do next. Guest access There’s more to explore beyond your little spot in the cedars. Guests are welcome to wander the property, hike our onsite trails, head down to the river, watch for wildlife or spend an afternoon on the water. 🌊 River + shared dock The dock is about 200 yards from Cedar Suncatcher. It’s a short walk down, but fair warning—the hike back up is a little spicy (steep)! 🥾 Onsite hiking Wander our trails through cool creek hollers or wooded ridgelines and make your way up to the sunset picnic spot for a view worth lingering over. 🛶 Kayaking Sit-on-top Kayak rentals are available for $10 each. Paddle the river from October–April, or enjoy calmer, lake-like water from May–September. 📍 Nearby Adventures 🦁 Briarwood Ranch Safari Park — ~7 min 🚤 Douglas Lake boat rentals — ~25 min 🥾 Panther Creek State Park — ~25 min 🌊 Pigeon River rafting — ~28 min 🏔️ Smoky Mountains – Cosby — ~35–45 min 💦 Big Creek + waterfalls — ~35–40 min 🕳️ Forbidden Caverns — ~40 min ♨️ Hot Springs, NC — ~40–45 min 🎢 Dollywood — ~45 min 🏘️ Gatlinburg — ~50 min 🥾 Max Patch + Appalachian Trail — ~55–65 min ...plus scenic drives, swimming holes and plenty of hidden gems worth venturing out for. 🌿 Explore at your own pace Hike, paddle, photograph wildlife, find a quiet spot by the water or simply wander. There’s no itinerary required here. Other things to note 🌿 Good to know 🌿 ☀️ Powered by sunshine Cedar Suncatcher is powered entirely by solar, so things stay intentionally simple. You’ll have lights, rechargeable fans and USB plugs for charging your devices. There’s no TV or Wi-Fi—but cell service keeps you connected when you want to be. 💧 Water works a little differently here You’ll have 18 gallons of fresh water each day—plenty for showers and everyday use if you can resist making that hot outdoor shower your new address. Be mindful of your use, and we’ll make sure you’re refreshed with a new supply each day. 🚙 Getting here is part of the adventure The final stretch to Cedar Suncatcher is a short mountain road that likes a little ground clearance. SUVs, trucks and similar vehicles do best, with AWD/4WD recommended when things get wet. If your vehicle isn’t up for it, we’ve got you. Park in the main lot and we’ll shuttle you and your gear in our 4-door Jeep. 🌲 Expect some wild neighbors You’re staying in the woods, which means squirrels don’t respect property lines, birds don’t observe quiet hours and the occasional bug may forget it wasn’t invited. It’s all part of staying this close to nature. 🪵 Handmade, not conventional Cedar Suncatcher isn’t a traditional cabin—and that’s part of its charm. It’s comfortable, intentionally simple and designed to be a little closer to nature, a little farther from the noise—and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
