Romantic Historic Watermill with woodfire & sauna!

Description

Beautifully restored, historic 18th Century watermill on the Norfolk Broads, perfect for 2- 4 adults. SORRY - NO UNDER 18s ALLOWED. Huge barn kitchen/living area: Aga, wood burner, luxurious sauna, drench shower & antique four poster bed & piano to use! A working farm on private river & 15 acres of meadows & woods. Short walk to Loddon's historic high street; cafes & 4 pubs & wonderful nature rambles, near the ancient cathedral city of Norwich. Fabulous, exclusive & wildly romantic! The space The property was an historic working watermill until 1960 and latterly converted into a famous arts venue 'Loddon Mill Arts' that hosted numerous international artists with regular classical, jazz and comedy nights, playing to full houses for over a decade. The barns where you will stay have now been converted into a luxurious 2 bedroomed, open planned 'self catering' accommodation that sleeps 4 adults in two bedrooms. Sorry - but we don't allow anyone under the age of 18 on the property - we don't allow parties and we don't allow pets. Everything you require for a fantastic and romantic stay is provided in the barns including an amazing sauna for four people in the bathroom. There are 2 bedrooms, one with a fabulous carved antique four poster bed in the 'Wherry' bedroom and a classic King size 'Bedknobs & Broomsticks' bed in the 'Mill' bedroom. Both have newly commissioned stained glass door lights above the door created with great skill by local artist Ruth Louise. The property has a gas aga, double gas cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, tumble drier, fridge freezer, shower, toilet, sink and washing up area. We have kept the theatre feel with atmospheric lighting (including some original stage lighting) and whiskey barrel bar for evening drinks. There is a large dining table, comfortable sofas and large Norwegian 'Jotul' wood burning stove. We provide logs for your first night. Additional wood is available from the shop next door in bagged kindling and bagged logs. The heating system is set to 19 degrees, 24 hours a day which is the government recommended house temperature and with the Aga in winter and Jotul stove you will be very warm if you wish. There is free parking for your 2 cars. We are a small 15 acre farm with sheep, horses, chickens, ducks and 3 working farm dogs. As we are a farm, you may hear some noise from us during the day. That's just what happens when you live with animals. We own 15 acres of meadows and private woods and half a mile of the river chet. We run a very small boutique camping site up in our woods with two log cabins that can also be hired on Airbnb. You are welcome to walk into our woods, but please respect our campers. You might even spot our resident Muntjac deers and otters! We are professional classical musicians. You will occWe aasionally hear the sound of the grand piano next to the barn being played and practiced in the music room next door. The walls are well insulated but it is hard to completely close out the sounds of Bach, Mozart and Beethoven and why would you want to! We have an upright piano in the barn that you are very welcome to 'tinkle' on! WHEN YOU BOOK: Ensure you select how many guests are coming. 1/2 Guests, 3 guests or 4 guests, as the price will differ! Loddon Mill Barns is a really fabulous place to stay as a couple or with friends and to visit to enjoy adventurous walking, bird watching, canoeing, sailing or eating out in the numerous excellent pubs or restaurants on our doorstep. Come and enjoy a very unique property in a little known, quiet and beautiful part of the Norfolk Broads. We will make you feel very welcome!
