A perfect couple's retreat: spacious residence decorated in a contemporary classic style, with the privacy of extensive grounds surrounding the house. Outside, you can walk or cycle from the door in the Cumbrian countryside in either direction. The nearby coastal village of St Bees is a short 10/15 minute drive. It is also a perfect base to explore the Lakes- Ennerdale Water is less than 6 miles away, Wasdale, Borrowdale and Loweswater are also close. The space No. 1 Ehen Hall is one of two spacious self contained residences in a family owned Victorian country house. Retaining many original features, the large rooms and high ceilings are complemented by modern comforts which make this a great holiday home for a quiet, relaxing get away. The grounds comprise of large lawns surrounded by mature woodland, about seven acres of private space for you to enjoy. In summer, there is outdoor seating to enjoy the views. Located on the quieter side of the Lakes, just outside the western border of the Lake District National Park, our guests generally enjoy getting away from the crowds. Yet, in approximately 12/15 minutes drive, you can be strolling around the shores of one of the area's finest and most serene lakes: Ennerdale.A little longer drive will get you to the lovely Wasdale valley which claims to have England's highest mountain (Scafell Pike), deepest lake (Wastwater), smallest church (St. Olafs) and Biggest Liar which is a local annual competition full of hilarity. An alternative to hills and lakes, but still within 10 minutes drive, is our beautiful coast. St Bees beach famously know as the start of the coast to coast walk.Long quiet beaches dotted with coastal towns, and villages bursting with maritime history are yours to explore. The house is accessed by a private entrance and driveway. After a short flight of steps, the external door opens into the hall. There is a spacious living area with large, comfortable sofas and a TV. The fully equipped kitchen/diner is across the hall, overlooking the garden. The hall also boasts a dedicated desk if you need to work during your stay: there is wifi throughout the house. The shower room and toilet are also on the ground floor. Upstairs, the spacious landing leads into a large bedroom, with a super king bed and a decorative original fireplace. Guest access Parking is off road, right outside the house and the house is accessed by a short external flight of stairs. Other things to note We welcome pets, but sorry, its a no smoking building!
