Solglimt – natural idyll with fjord, mountain and garden

Solglimt is a lovely, peaceful space, perfect for singles, couples, and small families. It sits nestled at the base of the mountains and just minutes from the nearby fjord in Bygstad. You’ll stay in a modern annex that has a private entry as well as open access to a beautifully tended garden and outdoor space. The space Where you will stay: The annex is a light-filled modern design that provides an excellent balance of cozy space and inspiring views. There are two bedrooms, one Queensbed and a 140cm bed, and a single bed in the living room. The bathroom has a walk-in shower, the kitchenette is equipped with all of the essentials (stovetop, tea kettle, mini fridge), and a dining table accommodates five/six people. The annex is fully stocked with linens, towels, kitchen utensils/pots and tableware as well as having a washer and dryer. The annex is tucked into a creatively organized and beautifully tended garden and open space where you can easily sit in the sun all day or find shade under the pergola and porch. You are welcome to use the entire garden as well as the barbeque and firepit. Guest access Spend your mornings sipping coffee in the garden, pull out the toys and games we have on hand for some quality family/friend time, or light a bonfire and enjoy the fresh evening air as stars dance overhead. If you close your eyes and breathe deep you can almost hear the old gods walking in the clouds and highest mountains. You’ll quickly feel the peace of the ancient forests, mountains and water. When you are ready to explore we will be happy to provide suggestions. This is a family homestead of outdoor and cultural enthusiasts – we’re happy to point you to the best hiking or skiing paths as well as local and regional cultural offerings for all ages. Just ask! Other things to note Parking: The parking lot has an electric car charger that is available free of charge for our guests. There are two parking spaces. Other things to note: We are an easy 1.2km walk to the village of Bygstad where you’ll find a Spar (general grocery story) that sells some simple hot food in addition to fresh and dry goods – you can’t miss it as it is just next to the fjorde! The closest restaurants are in Forde (approximately 20 minutes away). If we are in residence, we can also prepare a simple hot meal for lunch and/or dinner for NOK 150 per person per meal (drinks not included). Your hosts: The family spends time between their home here and in Asker/Oslo and may not be in residence during your stay. However, we are always available by phone or text and have the capacity to respond quickly. Our family is a family of travelers, musicians, educators, and writers.
