Unique photograhy sites for holiday, engagement, baby, wedding, etc. The space Bishop Lakehouse has been a family property for almost 40 years. The lodge sits on a 10 acre private lake full of bass and bream and is surrounded by pine and hardwood forests. Completely renovated and refurnished with vacation stays in mind, the lodge delivers charm with modern amenities and high end fixtures and finishes. All finishes and decor were thoughtfully selected and include a mix of original art, designer fixtures and furnishings and vintage pieces. The heart of the home is a vaulted great room with exposed original wood beams, floor to ceiling limestone fireplace and a full wall of glass sliders opening to a 35’ fully screened flagstone patio. A wraparound deck provides multiple entertaining areas with views of the lake, woods and pastures from every side, plus hot/cold outdoor shower and sink. The kitchen and dining area are open to the great room. Appliances are a cooks dream and admittedly a bit over the top for a vacation home! Rounding out the kitchen / dining area is a wine & coffee bar/ butlers pantry with a bar sink for entertaining. The pantry is supplied with a large selection of glassware, coffee / tea setup and appliances and accessories for serving a delightful meal or drinks party, such as a blender, ice bucket, pitcher, platters, bowls, etc. Bedrooms are designed to be comfortable and tranquil spaces with new comfortable mattresses, plenty of closet and drawer space and high quality bedding. A hotel quality rollaway twin bed is available in Bedroom 4 for guests who want to spread out. Bathrooms feature unique handmade tiles, wall mounted Kohler sink fixtures, heated floors, custom vanities with soapstone counters and frameless glass showers with Kohler thermostatic systems and individual flow controls for 3 spray options, including overhead rain heads. The lower level studio suite has separate access that fronts the lake and has living, dining, kitchenette, and sleeping areas and a full bath with curb-less shower. Both the lodge and the lake were constructed in the 1950s by former Athens GA mayor and civic leader, Julius Bishop. Our family acquired the property and surrounding 1300 acres from Mr. Bishop in the 1980s and ran a cattle ranch here for several decades. The current property is 142 acres and is a mix of hardwood forests, hay fields and, of course, the lake and lodge. **THIS PROPERTY IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR PARTIES OR OTHER EVENTS. ONLY REGISTERED GUESTS ARE PERMITTED ONSITE EXCEPT AS AUTHORIZED IN WRITING BY THE HOST** Guest access You will have exclusive use of the entire house, exterior areas, surrounding yard of approximately 2 acres and the private 10 acre lake. Guests are also welcome to walk the miles of trails / interior roads on the farm. A map is provided. You may see our staff pass by on the farm’s charming dirt and gravel roads or over the lake dam. Only 15 minutes from charming university town of Athens and 1 hour to Atlanta, you will escape to a rural preserve that harkens to centuries past. Like most rural areas the house has a septic system and uses propane - see House Rules for details. Internet broadband service in rural areas are particularly susceptible to line cuts and other interruptions. Cellular service on all major networks is very good and we recommend bringing a back up if Internet connectivity is important to your visit.
