Guest access Backyard picnic table, meadow and surrounding woods Other things to note We love our home, but we love our town more! Many full time islanders are small business owners or critical workers who help keep this place live-able, however, recent spikes in housing costs and the proliferation of short term rental investors has made it an increasingly unaffordable place to live. We believe this will forever change the character of this island in a negative way and this is why we have chosen to donate 100% of the money earned from your visit (except the cleaning fee) to Island Workforce Housing. You can learn more about Island Workforce Housing at (islandworkforcehousingdotorg )and you can learn more about the housing crisis by listening to "Working Waterfronts" podcast the Deer Isle episode. We hope knowing your rental cost is helping to offset housing shortage will encourage you to stay at our home and if you are a homeowner, spread the word, we would love to see other people ‘from away’ make this same choice.
