Description

Canasta de Estrellas is in the heart of Wonder Valley, California. We are 15 minutes from JT National Park. Completely rebuilt in 2020. Come and unplug in a modern "Spaghetti Western" retreat. We have all comforts for outdoor and indoor desert living, and style to match the comfort. Pool and water misters cool the porch. Firepits and wood burning stove for the cold. Relax, enjoy the amazing Wonder Valley sunsets . No light pollution - stars for miles. Reboot, rejuvenate, and just be! The space What is it you seek to find in the vast and feral open space of the Mojave Desert? A place of infamy, danger, heat, cold, dust, wind, rain, and sun, all comprising the most wondrous and terrible beauty that inspired the heroes and villains of the greatest story of our nation, if not the world – the Great American West. What possesses you to look our way? There’s extraterrestrials, for one. They probably won’t bother you – none of us are that interesting to them. But they might show themselves to you, if you’re lucky. There’s the supernatural. We have an occasional visitor. And sometimes he may startle you… if you’re lucky. There’s stars. Stars for days. On a cool clear night, especially toward the clarity of autumn and winter in the desert, there are nights when the stars just don’t stop. When you hit it right on a moonless night you’ll see the milky way from one horizon to the other. If you’re lucky. And there’s a moon that shines like the sun when she’s full. And we have sunrises. And sunsets. Spectacular ones. Every day. And we get weather. You can be treated to a monsoon and a lightning show like no other. If you’re lucky. There’s coyotes. They’ll come out at night on the hunt and sing to you for hours, if you’re lucky. There’s solitude. There’s always solitude. The solitude is enormous. When the wind has died, you can hear a pin drop 10 miles across the valley. If you’re lucky. People come to the Mojave Desert in search of something, or perhaps to get away from something. Or both. Truth is, nobody really knows why they go there, and it frankly doesn’t matter. The only point to it, is to actually be there, and just let whatever is going to happen… happen. We can help. We’re experts. We have the set and the setting. We have the comfort, and tranquility, and the ambience, for all this and a thousand other reasons that you’ll only discover by coming. We’ve shot a movie here – Night of the Bastard. It’s an old school campy grindhouse horror. We’ll make it comfortable for you. Relaxing. Inspirational. Safe and secure. Sure, there’s some pretty spiky creatures out here, but we have the creature comforts that you want. Our property is our own creation. Art, plant life, dimensions. It’s a portal, a gateway, that we’ve created. The swimming pool is massive. Blow up a mattress and float around, soaking up sunlight (or moonlight). It may be 105 out in the sun, but when it’s dry as a bone and you get out of the pool with a desert breeze blowing, you’re very cool, a little chilly even. We’ve got porch misters that will create a thermal evaporative blanket, and drop the temp 10 degrees or more on the porch – if there’s no wind, it will even get a little too cold out there with them running in the heat of summer. If you wanna do a little work, a little writing, a little cooking, we’re all set for that. WiFi, a/c, heating, hot water, laundry, everything you can think of. We’ve got you covered. All you have to do is just come and let it get inside of you. Guest access Easy access off the main road which is graded regularly. Plenty of parking on either side of the house or in the circular driveway. We are on a 5 acre lot with a large circular driveway framed by the 15' tall arch. Other things to note The pool is open during the warm weather, typically from May to October. It gets cool in the winter and we close it then. Registration Details CESTRP-2021-01972
